Championship game involving River Ridge, LA and Curaçao is starting now. Louisiana has the grandson of J.T. Curtis on the team. I’m sure we’ll see him on a football field pretty soon.

Louisiana is kick butt !!!! Leading 6-0 in top of 5th. Could be the first time Louisiana has ever won and probably the first time in a while a U. S. team has won it.

Actually, the US has won three of the last 4. Little League is interesting because I think many people use it synonymously with all youth baseball, and that just isn't the case. Little League is just one organization, and it isn’t a very popular one in this area. I know several HS coaches look down on the rules they use. I am surprised Indy isnt talking about , and how Little League dodges Pony, Dizzy Dean, USSSA etc. They do have the TV contract

Honestly with travel ball, little league/ pony/ cal Ripken/ dixie youth etc... are not as popular as they once were. They keep repeating how the river ridge league is so new and if I had to guess it was started with the sole purpose of winning the little league World Series. So what I don’t care. It was awesome. So happy for those kids.

But yes i'm sure the River Ridge program was started with the purpose of winning it. But i don't care if they're a select team because the International teams have always done it that way. WAY TO GEAUX LOUISIANA !!!!!

WAY TO GEAUX LOUISIANA !!!!! I am pretty sure ALL of the teams, US and INTERNATIONAL are "stacked". Although I am not sure of the process used (all-star, self formed team, etc) I am pretty confident the teams playing here aren't going to be the pure rec, you pay your registration, you play on the team situation. That wasn't my point. My point was simply that I am betting there are a lot of U12 (Under 12) baseball teams in the Nola Metro area/south east Louisiana that play under those various sanctioning bodies while playing under "real" baseball rules on bigger fields saying "hey.. they aren't better than us, why are they on TV" No knock on LL at all (although I am not sure how I feel about some of their rule modifications). I was just pointing out that it is interesting that in such a hotbed of baseball area that is Southern Louisiana (or Louisiana in General) that the media coverage and the assumption that LL Champ is equivalent to being the best Under 12 team as opposed to just the best team playing this particular organization which happens to have the TV contract might shake some things up. Kind of like if Notre Dame started running their mouths that they were the best team in the state while skillfully dodging John Curtis and Evangel during their success. It is somewhat similar to youth weightlifting or powerlifting (if anyone has any knowledge of that). In this day and age of internet and youtube, it isn't very difficult to find HS guys posting training lifts online that would absolutely be competitive if not winning/record setting. They just don't compete in the USWA

all them kids will be at curtis and j.t. will make sure that group sticks together.. Not all of them will end up there, infact majority of them are spread out right now already and Curtis will only have 3 of them.

The student body comes from a mostly blue-collar contingent. I would gladly send my son there (if I had one) but there’s a lot more interest in the Catholic schools.

Also, as I mentioned, "Little League" is just one of many organizations. They just happen to be the one with the TV contract. While these guys played well, and it was fun to watch, I do think things are extremely overhyped here. Just a few weeks prior to this, a Jefferson Parish Westbank team was the national runner up in the U12 Dizzy Dean world series. Several LA teams participated in the USSSA world series event. But Little League has the TV contract.
