I'm hearing that the coach at sulphur got fired this morning. Apparently he has a problem with the way he talks to the players.

I didn't hear that since I'm not connected in that area at all but I'm not super surprised. Don't know much about him personally or at all, but I'm sure if they were winning they'd let him off the hook; of course, that's semantics and they're not. I wonder if he'd have been fired last week if they didn't pull the win out against Lagrange? But that's also just semantics and either way, the fact that 3 of you so far have heard the same thing is pretty damning for the apparently soon to be former Sulphur football head coach, though I'm sure someone will pick him up as an assistant in the offseason if not sooner.

We played them a few weeks ago at home. They only had 100 or so fans and the band didn’t travel. I visited with a few fans, parents and they didn’t have much good to say about the coach. That’s really sad for such a historically good program.

Doesn't say a lot about the hiring/vetting process that Sulphur conducted that after four games they're right back in the same boat they were in about 10 months ago.

Job doesn't seem very appealing especially with the way the community is reacting. Going to be a big job to right that ship.

That’s really sad for such a historically good program. First off ND some things to clear up. Their fans didn't go there because 1) Rayne Stadium cannot handle a traveling crowd like Sulphur. Sersiously a stadium as terrible as Rayne hosting a LARGE 5A Crowd? I've been tehre and it's falling a aprt 2) Their band didn't travel because because there are over 250 in band and wanted to leave room for fans 3) It was on TV

4) Talking to a few Sulphur folks, they thought the Tors would blow out that 2A school. Most didn't go because it was supposed to be 'no contest'. They were correct, just not in the Tors favor.

Heard 30 players quit after the Acadiana game Dang, that would bring their numbers down to around 30. I only counted 60-65 at the Jamboree when I watched them play.

Except for STM and TC. The visitor side easily holds 750. The games was streamed by Sulphur, it wasn’t on TV. Someone from Sulphur called our athletic office and checked on the size and lead us to believe the band and 400 or so fans would be there and to make sure we had enough concessions. We also got extra security to make sure.

How is your statement possible when the previous head coach was successful with the same principal and administraton? I said most of the time. I disagree. The usual cycle of talent level dropping every few years for most schools plays a huge part. Then you got the useless school board members groveling for votes by running off good coaches that hurt one of their voters "babys" feelings by not playing them or yelling at them.
Heaven forbid one of their own kids playing on the team and not getting to start.

It's one of the best kept places around. It can handle the packed crowds trust me. I live a mile north of wolf stadium and been there a bunch of times. Your whole info about the place is about as true as dog poo smells the Rose's. Go back to Moss Fluff where you belong

That Rayne High School Stadium VISITORS side is TRASH!!!! I was there last year. Seats are falling apart. Poison Ivy growing at the very top seats on fence. You park in grass that is waste high to get to vistors side and CONSESSION IS A SMALL RED PHONE BOOTH!!!
The Home side looked nice but try showing some hospitality like fixing a trashy stadium like Rayne High! I know what i saw and experienced.

I know what i saw and experienced. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ I don't know what dog Sammy has in this hunt, nor do I really care. But I understand his point. Many schools have really nice home stadiums but the visitors side is very neglected and sometimes down right nasty. Acadiana for years did not have visitor bathrooms and brought in Port-o-lets for the visitors as well as limited concessions. Breaux Bridge use to have a separate price list for the visitor side concessions than it did for the home side concessions and the seats were horrific at both of these places. I hear they have both been improved. I don't know what the Rayne high visitor section looks like and I really don't care if they have foot long splinters in the stands or padded cushion seats. At STM at least we try to kill all the wasp before you get there. Especially for that first game. Unless the first game is Acadiana, which it has not been in years. LOL... That is a joke for those of you with a challenged humor. Once STM played at Acadiana and they had a burning AHS setup on the visitor side, but on the playing field. They set it on fire and it fell over scorching the field. We got a good laugh out of it but it damaged the field and killed the grass. Sulphur had a really nice stadium in comparison, it is so nice that some local fans sit on the visitors side regularly, well when the are winning they do. We have always had a good relationship with Sulphur at STM and it use to be the the opening game of the season every year. Then we were put in their district and things got a little sour. You guys get your act together and give Kim or Jim a call, it would be good for both schools and you can come by and see the improvements we have made recently.
