Scott Wattigny Is the new head coach at Catholic NI. He was the head coach at Arch Bishop Hannan. Some time back he was at VC. This seems to be a good hire and a good opportunity for coach Wattingy

Former Wossman coach Dean Smith is supposedly the favorite to be the next head coach of Southwood High School.

Kennedy high school and Walter L. Cohen have openings at the head coach level.....
John Kennedy competes at the 4A district level which includes both GW Carver and Warren Easton. The school recently experienced admin turnover not involving the current head coach. Turnover within the school admin as a result of a well publicized grading scandal has brought about new leadership under the KIPP organization. Thus, all current employees are being asked to reapply for the upcoming school year.
JFK, under the direction of veteran New Orleans coach Earl Cager, completed the 2019 season with a 4-6 record. JFK scored wins over McKinley 27-13, Lusher Charter 49-32(District), Sci Academy/Abramson 20-0, and McMain(D) 20-6. Competing in district 11-4A JFK lost games to GW Carver 33-0 and Warren Easton 50-0. Other notable losses for 2019 include the season opener against, first year head coach Keenan Lewis, Landry-Walker 18-6. A week two loss to Booker T. Washington 36-15 and a week seven loss to Loranger 34-9.
Walter L. Cohen recently moved down to 2A from 3A. Cohen competed for the district title in 3A previously before moving to 11-2A this year registering a record of 1-9. Cohen College Prep's lone win in 2019 was against district foe Fisher high, by a score of 28-8. Fisher played eight season games (six at home) failing to win a game for the year.

Reason for Cager's departure?

Reason for Cager's departure? I believe that as stated above by 769@Nastyalignment , all JFK employees have to reinterview for their position after a change in Admin due to a grading scandal. That probably means that Cager's position as Director of Operations (and HFC) are "open" until he is officially rehired in those capacities. Just as an algebra 2 teacher's position is open until officially rehired. I don't believe Cager has departed.

Franklin Parish has hired Crossett (AR) HS head coach Sonny Nason as head coach. Nason was 34-43 in 7 years at Crossett. Nason was also 17-23 in four years at Lake Providence (now General Trass) from 2008-11.
Byron Dawson has resigned as head coach at Evangel Christian to accept a position as defensive line coach at Tulane. Dawson was 61-22 in seven years with the Eagles, winning a state title in 2016. Dawson will be replaced by ECA chancellor Denny Duron. Duron previously served as Eagles HC from 1989-91 and was a longtime offensive coordinator. He also previously served as HC at Evangel University in Missouri from 1977-82.

Ben Powell did a great job at Cohen until last year... wonder where he’ll end up ****Powell turned that program around in short order, but many of the assistants who helped him during the turn around have left for one reason or another. Program had lost over 40 games in 5 previous seasons before his first year. His offense gave 3A district teams fits. Nearby Jeff parish could use a fresh offensive minded head coach - as currently it is a "desert of mediocre spread offense" outside of the some private schools. Right now Bonnoffons at Bonnabel is the only "proficient" QB coach in the suburb. www.nola.com/sports/high_schools/article_49d127ec-e6e0-587b-9d79-ccc3e516df66.htmlwww.nola.com/sports/high_schools/article_337e1611-0c7c-5771-8aac-f1e4cf078511.htmlcrescentcitysports.com/video-cohen-head-football-coach-ben-powell/

Bonnoffons ight at Bonnabel. He just lost his QB to Navy. Let's see who he can coach up this yr coming at QB. This will be his first year three at any stop! He never had outstanding QB at Riverdale-just Donte Jackson (LSU-Carolina Panthers). Chango who left Metairie Country Night is a good QB guy too 58......... What about Torri Denis from Karr? He had a good track record with QBs too 58option Powell ight too. His best move was going to single wing. His wins correlated with the offensive change.

yeah you mention the spread offenses in JP, they really don’t have the big bodies or weightlifting discipline to run anything else. Hence Chalmette rolls over them every year with the Wing T

I had no intention to take anything earned in sweat from Mr. Smith or his accomplishments at Riverdale (5-5 reg season; ended in first rd. playoff defeat his Jr. year right?).

I can't remember specifically. He may have got injured too I'm not sure - but the offense changed that year to suit his skill set and it didn't work out.

As of yesterday, 3/5/2020, it appears that the head coaching position is now vacant at West Jefferson high school. This is confirmed via the Jefferson Parish Public School Systems career/employment website.
West Jefferson competes at the 5A district level. The school has its own football field and a large practice space behind the field.
