Any scouting reports on how each team will do this season? I know the typical contenders are Kinder, Doyle, Loreauville, DeQuincy, Many, Lakeside, and others.

Winnfield should be pretty solid again this year. Returning five four year starters, one second year starter and a couple of other solid contributors from last years team. Pitching will probably be an issue. Lost last years ace and our number two guy tore his labrum in the second round last year requiring surgery. I doubt he will be back to pitch. I still see us winning district and possibly making it to the quarters like the last two years.

Doyle only lost 4 players. Most of their starters are returning as juniors and only have a few seniors.

I see all the ones 95 mentioned to be in the hunt along with winnfield. Rosepine should be solid as well. Many lost alot but seem to reload each year

Rosepine, Kinder and DeQuincy will all be good. Rosepine is still young but they have one of the top sopres in the state.

We have a chance to be pretty solid. We don't have the depth on the mound that the top teams in our district have. We return 2 first team and 2 second team all district players.

DeQuincys pitching depth will be solid this season, we will have to find some offense if we want to compete with the top teams in 2A.

Port Allen will be bad. That is my scouting report. Their coach is Brian Bass, the brother of Brad Bass at Catholic High of Baton Rouge.
Brian is a good coach, but has very little to work with.

I actually saw them a couple times last year. Definitely nowhere near a contender, but they were competitive in some games, which I haven't seen at all in the past. Most of those competitive games were against similarly bad teams, but those were games they used to be on the WAY wrong end of. Kudos for steps in the right direction?

DeQuincy lost a couple stud pitchers to graduation but we have a couple Seniors filling in those spots along with a few really promising underclassmen, we should hit well this season, defensively we will need to field the ball better than we did last year.. Made way too many errors last year but I believe we’ll be better than that this season. Overall I don’t think we’ll be a top 4 seed again but definitely a top 10, we have another tough tough schedule as well as a beefed up district.

Any scouting reports on how each team will do this season? I know the typical contenders are Kinder, Doyle, Loreauville, DeQuincy, Many, Lakeside, and others. The usual suspects. The real question is who will be the surprise team this year. Last year Avoyelles Public Charter. The year before Welsh. French Settlement also made a surprise Quarterfinal run last year.

DeQuincy demolished Westlake 16-3 tonight in a scrimmage.
Westlake doesn’t have any pitching.. they only return two Seniors, very young ball club.
DQ took advantage of that tonight and put on a hit clinic! Defensively we looked great as well!

First chance to see Loreauville in action tomorrow when they scrimmage NISH. Another loaded schedule this year. Start the season with Denham Springs, Live Oak, and Central-B.R.

Yalls schedule is crazy loaded. I know the Tigers have a strong senior class, how are the underclassmen? Good as well? To me, Loreauville should be the favorite in 2A this season.

Yes, the underclassmen are good. Not as full of all around athletes like the senior class but still very good. The only position needing to be filled is second base and there's a few that can start. Like always, it will come down to pitching because the offense will score plenty of runs.

Kinder only lost 3 starters from last year’s team. Returns two-four year starters one of which is a lsue signee and getting some attention from professional scouts and the other is the catcher who missed most of last year until playoffs started, their starting qb. RedSox scout at the St Louis scrimmage two nights ago to see the lsue signee who has a big bat double digit homeruns and state championship mvp. Returns up to ten players who have started one time or another. Returns their winning pitcher from last year’s state championship who is throwing in the mid 80s. Returns five or six pitchers that have recorded a win in the past year. Pretty good shape I think. Senior leaden team with experience and confidence and relaxed attitude.

Winnfield returning six starters and a couple other guys with a lot of experience. Best pitcher graduated, looking like our number 2 guy isn’t going to recover from shoulder surgery. May be forced to change his position from third to second as well. We have a loaded schedule, should know how we are going to look within a few weeks. My opinion is we are going to have to win a lot of games by scoring lots of runs. Just hope we can head into playoffs playing our beat ball. Last two years seemed like we peaked and started slumping towards the end of the regular season. Still think a quarterfinal run is possible but I’m afraid our chance for Sulphur was least year.
