Any scouting reports on baseball scrimmages across the state? We are less than a week away from the first game of the season and it’s been unusually quiet on here.. 🤔

DeQuincy baseball scrimmage results
Umpire Scrimmage DQ 5 Lake Arthur 3 Lake Arthur looks solid and may surprise a lot of people in 2A.
DeQuincy 16 Westlake 3 Westlake is very young and doesn’t have the arms to compete in district as of now.
DeQuincy 3 Oberlin 2 Oberlin is just as good as last year, they return EVERYONE. They will run through district like bread and butter.
As for DeQuincy, we look much improved from last years regional team and playing with a chip on our shoulders, hitting the ball well and played excellent defense! Pitching is great and I honestly don’t think we had much of a drop off if any on the mound, they young bucks really stepped up and are proving themselves quickly! JV looks outstanding and are clicking on all cylinders! A great Freshman group that are very disciplined at the plate and play with a lot fire and purpose! They will be darn good once they are Juniors and Seniors! I said that DQ wouldn’t be top 4 material this year but after observing over the past few weeks I think we’ll be right back in the fight and we might just finally make it back to Sulphur!

Not baseball but my daughter is in the 7th grade and is playing on the high school softball team. I have been pleasantly surprised with how they have looked so far. I'm not saying we will be contending for a state title but as bad as LA has looked over the years I've been impressed with what I've seen. We scrimmaged Jennings last week and won 8-1 and then last night beat Welsh 16-5.

My cousin plays 2nd base for Welsh and I watched them scrimmage LA in that umpire scrimmage last weekend and both teams looked solid! Should be fun playing them in district! DeQuincy softball looks much improved from last year, quite a bit of upper classmen leadership paired with a phenomenal Freshman group and we’ve looked great so far! Beat Merryville 11-5 and Oberlin 10-2 in scrimmages.

That was mainly jr high kids and freshmen you saw playing lol.

Any scouting reports on baseball scrimmages across the state? We are less than a week away from the first game of the season and it’s been unusually quiet on here.. 🤔 Kinder has had s couple of scrimmages that I know of. One against St. Louis and one against Iota. There's no winning or losing in a scrimmage but they outscored STL 9-6 and Iota outscored them 9-4.

We have to play them in the jamboree Friday.

How does St. Louis look? We have to play them in the jamboree Friday. I wasn't at that one but St. Louis is always good. But I can tell u that Kinder used 5 pitchers against Iota and Iota did not score on Kinder's 3 best arms.

DeQuincy had some struggles at the plate with very below average pitching the other night against Oberlin...hope we can get that corrected, if not, we will struggle once again to hit above average pitching. As for our pitching it has looked great, deep staff this season barring any injuries. Our number 2 arm and starting catcher from last season broke his hand in inter-squad the other day, may he make a speedy recovery!

We’ll be just fine, hit great against Westlake, Oberlin in my opinion was better competition, we’ll find out what we’re made of tomorrow night!
