Formulation of a "Select School Correct" answer to this query, is a bit cumbersome. The point has to be defended, without self conviction. If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.

I tell you if I had the money I would send my kids to a private school. What has changed that would allow me to send my kid to a private school, nothing, I still do not have the money. As everyone has always pointed out it cost money to send kids to a private school. What are they going to do, give a punch of scholarships to kids so they can come play. If I was a paying customer and a punch of non paying customer were coming in and getting more playing time than my kid, I think I would go find another school to give my money to. Would not matter to me if other paying customer's kid got more playing time, but kids that do not pay I would have a issue, I could get that in public schools. SO PLEASE EXPLAIN, "They about to get there star athletes looking elsewhere to play."

You are being ridiculous. No athletes are recruited, no students are denied enrollment, and CERTAINLY there are no "slush funds" or "fine christian donors" to take care of a needy childs tuition (unless of course they are the "athletic type of needy")

Better competition. So there IS better competition. Thank you for totally justifying the reason for the new classification criteria. Public schools, by your own admission, are at a competitive disadvantage.

So how will this parents pay for it. If the could pay now would their kids already be going to a private school? Who said the parents will pay for it? I don't see ND parents being happy if a bunch of mercenaries are brought in to play sports when they as well as 2 or 3 generations of their families have been financially supporting the school and now the kids whose families have built the program are no longer considered good enough to play. The paying parents will pull out or at least stop helping with fund raisers. Remember that the library and new field house were built with donated money. One or two might slip in without anyone questioning it but if a slew of them show up that didn't attend the feeder programs you will see a bunch of upset parents and winning a few more games won't make them happy.

Also did a private school close in Baton Rouge because of to many free rides? I know I would not pay money for my kid to go to school and have free rides get but ahead of my kid, I go find another school.

You mean 2nd and 3rd generation families like that of Tyler Shelvin? Nah, I dont see that happening either.

ESPECIALLY if the school in question is under a Federal Deseg order (which private schools do not have to deal with)

people assume those private school good athletes only go there to play sports... like Country Day who has had a run of D1 talent that demographics say they shouldn't have had, but at a public school, they're just "another kid who moved to town" and nobody really questions it

But if you are referring to the situation if a kid moves in and takes another kids position that was previously there, then that is just as much a problem as anywhere else.

It's uncanny, really. And they had the stones to vote pro-split. Quite possibly the most hypocritical pro-split voter there is.

Agree 100%, and parents and schools shouldnt be prostituting children for wins. Do you agree?

parents should do whatever is in their kid's best interest... if that means move a kid "up" for exposure and competition or move a kid "down" for playing time, do it. kids only get one chance at HS sports so the rules should be favoring them to get the best opportunity possible
in the end, who cares who wins on the field if kids are winning in life. so my school wins. woo-hoo. i'm happy for a day, or a week, but we need to win by the kids

Bending rules to best fit your needs, not the kids. If kids only get one chance at HS sports and should seek the "best opportunity possible", they should all attend the same schools............aka IMG Academy. Maybe you could fund that. Youre "all about the kids". What about the kids who CANT play on the next level? They should be left at the local school to be fodder, blocking dummies, for the "elite kids"? Those kids dont count? What a stupid statement.

Less than 40% (that's less than 4 out of 10- pretty sure you didn't go to a select school) of registered voters...voted. Maybe Edwards can ban private schools all together. That would be awesome...all those people with unfair advantages...Go get em John.
Thanks bigboob...

What a stupid statement. I would rather there be as few rules as possible... say we got 300 high schools playing football, 22 starting positions per team, round that to 20 bc kids play both ways... that's 6,000 starting spots per year. Some kids will play at IMG and be 5 star recruits. Some will start on a solid playoff team. Some will start at a terrible 2a school. I just want every kid to feel like he has maximized the one chance he has to play. Some schools will be fodder for the elite teams, just the way it is. But they'll probably experience success against someone, at some time.
