Strange days....For the first time since 1943, during WWII, there will be no Louisiana High School Baseball ⚾️ State 🏆Championships. (77 years)

That's a shame I wish they could have played in the summer but no one know what this virus is going to do or when the government opens thing's back up to the public for gatherings etc. Hopefully the kids can play some type of tournament ball in the summer

You don't need the LHSAA to play baseball. Each High School should organize and start planning on playing as soon as the ball parks reopen. You either are going to accept the status quo and yield to the LHSAA and all their repressive rules or you are going to go around them. Public or private does not matter. It is time for the coaches to take back their sports and give the LHSAA the flying finger. Contact your non-district teams, put together tournaments and setup a state world series round robin tournament for the end of JULY. You could get at least two good months of games. In June, do a series of round robin tournaments statewide as USSSA does their tournaments. Heck, align yourselves with the USSSA over LHSAA even. Then in July start the High School playoff series with everyone playing week one as a round robin for seeding. Then starting in week two it become double elimination till you get a final champion. Dump the LHSAA for baseball and take control over the sport yourselves. If you are smart the power really lies with the coaches but it will require solidarity. If you do it now, next year, you can start your baseball season in March and end it in June and no longer have to split your gates cash with the repressive bureaucrats of the LHSAA!!!! I know some of you are going to worry about the cheaters getting transfer students. So what, let them transfer and place all those teams in the top bracket. You don't want a bad apple kid on your team who does not want to be there anyway!! Let him go play with whomever he wants, chances are he is not loyal or that good of a player anyway. Just take care of your own business. You can call it the Louisiana High School Coaches State Championship!!!

This would basically make everyone ineligible for a calendar year with all coaches suspended so no baseball at all in 2021.

Which by the way, has also cancelled in some states, and has suspended activity in all states with stay at home orders... But sure, the LHSAA is the oppressive monster here I have noticed that fans in general, have a lot of chest thumping and braggadocious comments when they are free from any recourse of a decision. Tomorrow the Governor is going to announce he is closing the school buildings for the remainder of the school year. I don't believe you can do that, and then have school sponsored activity without looking foolish.

No, I would say he is mad that the LHSAA (make that the oppressive LHSAA) didn't leave the door open to extend its High School baseball season into the summer months should stay at home orders be rescinded during that time but rather choose to not open the myriad of issues that doing so might entail. Nevermind that many if not the vast majority of these HS baseball teams continue on after May virtually intact via Legion and other summer ball activities. Nope, the are just oppressive monsters.

Alot of schools did the drive by with the lights last night but alot of folks were out of their vehicles. It's ashame that they did this. 20 minutes.... for what??? We need the folks in charge to be a tad bit smarter.

It's a damn good thing that people are doing everything they can to honor the seniors at their schools. Out of everyone who is infected with Covid-19, 80% will not even know or have mild symptoms. 20% will have major symptoms. 10% will need hospitalization and 2% will need ventilators. These numbers come from a doctor who is on a call weekly with a major global corporation, not a doctor on TV looking for ratings. This company has over 15,000 employees in the US including many in every hot zone. They had 14 employees test positive so far. 2 are fully recovered and the other 12 are waiting at home to return to work. Look at Louisiana's numbers right now. Positives per test is at 18.17%. Hospitalizations per positive test is at 9.19%. Ventilators per positive test is 2.03%. We are only testing people who show multiple symptoms right now so those numbers are actually lower than if everyone was tested. What we need is people to quit listening to Government officials and taking their word as gospel. They are telling you only the worst numbers and not being completely honest with people.

So that is a tremendous large portion of people capable of transmitting a virus they have no idea they have. Which pretty much supports exactly what achs1990 was saying correct? I realize that many people are having a disconnect between the COVID-19 virus and the types of things you see in movies and in doing so some may feel that the danger is underwhelming and can't reconcile the steps being taken to mitigate those dangers. I also recognize that I didn't go to my Prom because of a family emergency, and yet somehow miraculously I have not locked anyone in a well and demanding they put lotion on their skin. My brother didn't get to play his Sr. Year basketball or baseball because of a football injury. He has not gone up a bell tower yet. Stuff happens.

It's unfortunate for the players and their loved ones but if the distancing doesn't stay alive then we are very vulnerable. My two schools that I support disappointed me with the "lights on, drive by, stay in your car" crap. Everyone was out of their cars. But, its the leadership of the school's and program's that allowed it. They are subpar in the mental department, but that's another story. Truth to the story, listen to the governor and stay home!!!

Don't like it then don't go. The fact of the matter is people can and will do what they want. No elected official can force you to do anything like "stay at home". The law they are using the shut down only certain businesses as they please is extremely vague and should seriously be looked at by the legislature. Also, nobody can say this virus is the worst thing ever or if it's no big deal because there's no control group to compare. People need to quit being mentally dependent on the Government to make their decisions for them.

People need to quit being mentally dependent on the Government to make their decisions for them. Not depending on government to make my decisions. Only trying to do my part. It is very obvious that staying apart from others help control the spread of the virus. The schools are so caught up in recognizing this one and that one but that's not important right now. Like I stated earlier, it's unfortunate but it's the world we live in now. I know the two schools I witnessed was just mind boggling but I expect that from both.

I wish things were different but they are not. Controllers will rule.
