The Baseball Power Ratings have been published. See the link under Baseball on the Main Menu and also above.
Remember, I publish the Ratings on Sundays to track each week, but there is also a "Current Ratings" link to see the latest. I will try to update this a couple times a day. I had this process automated last year, but my laptop died a couple months ago. I hope to have this process automated again soon.
PLEASE NOTE: These results are published based on the information found in the LHSAA online database which is updated by the teams themselves. If they have not entered game results, or at times they have entered results incorrectly, there is nothing I can do about that.
I have also added the new 2017 Power Rating formula so you can see what it looks like.
Good Luck to all your teams this season!!
Brad

Barbe schedule is a joke. For all 5A coaches out there. A proposal will be coming soon. That if you play a classification other than A, you will lose as many points as they gain for playing up. Probably wont pass, but an example needs to be made. Dont know why Glenn went with the stock piling of class B and C points this year, bc he hasnt done it in the passed. Karma bit them with grace christian tho.

2. Even if it did, I wouldn't see it passing as it would cause schools not to schedule down.

New formula will make smaller schools think twice about scheduling up, no benefit.

Trust me, it wouldnt pass. But some of the scheduling thats happening isnt for the benefit of the kids or make their team better. Its purely to gain an advantage through a loophole. Chalmette, Id even say 2a on down you lose the points that smaller school gains for playing up. Brad, if thats the case for next year then this is a moot point. Hope youre right.

Brad is correct. New formula is...
Winning percentage x 3 , plus opponent winning percentage x 9, plus district winning percentage x 9.
Nothing else, that's it. No play up points, no 20 points for wins, just those three things added together.

just reminding you softball uses the old basketball formulas... 5 points per win plus 1 for each opponents win, or .33333 for each opponents win if you lose no play up points either The LHSAA Handbook says 33% of Opponents wins if you lose. I decipher this as .33. Obviously .33333 would calculate differently than .33. I have no experience with Softball, so please if anyone knows what LHSAA actually uses, let me know. .33333 would make more sense if the Handbook stated 1/3rd, but it spells out 33%. I did take a couple teams and compare them with the results the LHSAA put out yesterday and came up with the same number, so this leads me to believe they use .33 as well. I only did this with 4 samples because there were a ton of results entered in the system from just last night. So I had to go through every opponent and update their record to what the LHSAA had at the time they published their results to verify. This was quite time consuming, thus only 4 teams. I should have these published later this evening. Brad

How did Holy Cross have such a Low Power Ranking? They had 11 5A wins, finished 3rd in Catholic League with wins over Rummel, Brother Martin and Jesuit, along with win of St. Charles who is # 2 in 2A. Just seems like PR was lower than it should be !!

16 Losses will do that. They finished with a 26.333 PR. The most points they got from any of those 16 losses was 25, which means even that loss brought their PR down. They averaged 19.13 points on their losses, and they had more losses than wins.
They would have finished 22nd with the 2017 Formula. Stay tuned for a detailed breakdown on how that formula would have looked with this years final results......

Thanks Brad. I knew the PR number was right due to the math, just seemed like with the quality of wins one would think they would have been a better PR. Guess losses hurt more than I realize. Thanks for response.
