Lol What an dumb post. Both schools would love to have him back at any cost. He’s One of the top coaches in the state who could coach anywhere he wanted. He must of beat your butt back in the day. There are folks at both of those schools who would disagree with you. The only reason they would disagree is that they are mad that he left them and Simply have hurt feelings. They would both be ecstatic if he were to stay or come back to their school. He’s easily one of the best coaches in the state. Both schools were deeply upset/disappointed that he left them. One of them was the school I pull for and im very well connected to both schools. Neither ever dreamed of showing him the door. Totally the opposite. It’s simply a dumb and stupid statement because he’s not liked by some on this board or a couple in the previous town are upset the he left them to do what was best for him in his mind.

Let’s revisit this in about 24 months. I’d bet Indy is closer to right than you are.

They were what I’d call bleacher coaches. In their mind they would have ran spread offense n zone defense n won 10 state championships in a row. As usual you don’t know what you’re talking about.

So you’re the lady behind the curtain pulling the strings? So should we call you Oz, or wizard? I’m guessing they had advanced ego classes back in the day at Sabine Parish high school?

You are making a blanket statement about something of which you know nothing. I have a few friends in Natchitoches who are affilitated with Natchitoches Central. Ate with two of them Saturday. None of them seem too terribly bothered by what happened last week and have been waiting for it since the attempt to get the West Monroe job. They are ready to move on to someone who wants to actually be in Natchitoches and at Natchitoches Central.

There have been plenty of people who actually wanted to be in Natchitoches and Natchitoches Central. Brandon Helms would have retired there. They fired him. Ultimately, they want someone who is going to bring a championship to Natchitoches, or at the very least bring them back to competing for state titles like they did in the mid-1990s. They can say whatever they want at this point because Jess left, but he gave them the best shot that they've had to do that in a long time.

Good luck to Coach Curtis at Southside. He now has a chance to prove that Natchitoches Central was just a bump in the road. From what I know that is a booming area around Lafayette with a ton of money and he will have whatever resources he wants and needs to be successful. He won't have near the athletes he's used to having at Many and at NC so he will have to adapt in that aspect. Let's see how he does. I'd wager Southside will be one of the most watched teams in the state this year as far as record and performance.

Is Southside that new school with Aquaman as their mascot? It’s about 7-8 years old. Mascot is the Sharks 6

Always amazed that people who are accountants, firemen, salesmen…get all crooked when a coach leaves. People in “regular” professions change jobs frequently and no one blinks. That man is the same as you, changing to circumstances that better accommodates his life. I’ve heard people say crazy things about coaches leaving, 65K and a few tshirts doesn’t bind anyone for life.

Holy cow! You guys are rough on the man. Great memes though.
Wasting time during lunch I pulled up Southside's schedule for this coming Fall. These are my predictions on their regular season games based on what little I know about Southside and about the teams they play.
Thoughts?
Southside Sharks
W1 @ Notre Dame--Loss--will get outcoached this early in the season. Indy will do victory laps on Sportsline for several days. W2 Neville--BAD Loss. Could be humiliated. W3 Madison Prep--Loss. Will get out-athleted and still beat up from Neville. At this point fans are starting to wonder what's going on. 0-3 heading to district. W4 Lafayette*-- A win to open the district schedule W5 @ Barbe*--Another win. Now 2-3 and 2-0 in district. W6 @ Sam Houston*--Will get outscored and can't keep up. W7 @ Sulphur*--Toss up. I'll give them the win based on recent Sulphur results.
Now 3-4 and 3-1 in district.
W8 Acadiana*--4 touchdown loss W9 Carencro*--4 touchdown loss W10 @ New Iberia*--Toss up based on whether there is any life left in them and they aren't too beat up from the previous two games. I'll give them the win based on past results and a chance to slip into the playoffs.
4-6 overall, 4-3 in district. Get in as a 25-28 seed. Gone in first round.

Southside went 7-3 last year (one score losses to Carencro and Sam Houston, and a loss to Acadiana) anf blew a game and lost by one last year in the second round. And were 9-1 with wins over Acadiana and Carencro, then gave Zachary all they wanted in the quarters the year before. I think you’re highly underestimating what they are capable of. Unless you just think Jess Curtis is a moron or something. It’s not like he’s replacing a legend there.

I'm not sure what a close loss to Zachary two years ago has to do with anything, but ok.
What I know about Southside is that they were senior heavy last year and graduated a lot. I know that the head coach that moved up was their OC and that their DC is now gone. I know that they will be replacing a lot of experience and most likely will not be running that veer offense that kept them in a lot of games, including Carencro last year. Demographically, I know that Southside does not have a lot of fast, explosive kids. I also know that as long as Curtis has been coaching he has played zero coverage and brought everybody else on defense. He will have to change that, in my opinion, based on the kids he will be using at Southside.
For those reasons--replacing both coordinators, changing offensive and defensive schemes, possibly a lot of coaching staff turnover, a ton of new starters, speed mismatches with several teams on their schedule--I don't see them being better than 4-6. I wouldn't be surprised if they are 2-8 if they let a couple of the winnable games slip away.
I don't think Curtis is a moron at all. I just don't think the physical talent at Southside matches his defensive philosophy at all and I am curious to see how he handles that. I stand by my prediction.

Southside has a 1,000-yard rusher coming back and several pieces on the defensive back seven. Contrary to what was posted earlier, there are athletes at Southside. Check out their basketball teams from the past few years. The roster numbers are great.

That’s an interesting analogy about basketball success predicting football success. According to your own logic, Natchitoches Central should have been 8-2 and in the quarterfinals last year based on basketball results over the last decade.
You above all other people on here should know that one has nothing to do with the other.

Sabine Parish is a select school with a 4A draw playing in a not select division. Winning there is not like winning at Southside. For Southsides sake I hope I’m wrong and I’ll gladly eat crow.

I'm pretty sure Malik Nabers, the best WR in LSU history and an upcoming first-round NFL draft pick, graduated from Southside. Lafayette produces Division I athletes every single year. Also, while a winning basketball program doesn't always equate success on the football field, I personally saw Southside's basketball team this year and there are athletes there.

Southside has athletes. I’m not sure where the info that they don’t came from. But to be fair, Malik Nabers never played a snap at Southside. He transferred there from Comeaux for his senior year and was deemed ineligible prior to his senior football season beginning.

Yes, but if I'm not mistaken, he transferred there for what would have been their first season playing varsity football. Those types of players may not be transferring anymore and instead may be showing up from the beginning of their high-school careers.
