Both teams are coming off hard-fought wins over two very tough teams. Covington holds off Ouachita, 35-28, while Hahnville squeezes pass Ruston 23-21.
I think this game will be ELECTRIC! My guess is that these two teams will have a combined score of over 80

My guess is that these two teams will have a combined score of over 80 Especially if that Covington Defense heads home at the half like last night I’d hardly say that Covington’s defense headed home. They still played very well. Ouachita finally found their groove and quit turning the ball over. Covington’s front 7 played exceptionally well throughout the entire game. Covington’s secondary was beaten by Ouachita’s superior receivers. Covington’s two picks were the result of heavy pressure by their DL and very poor decision making on the QB’s part. Don’t discredit OPHS by saying that CHS’s defense headed home. They were beaten. Just like OPHS’s offense was beaten the first half. Both teams played very hard and deserve a hat tip for playing a great game.

Thinking about it your way, maybe we're not adjusting to these teams finding out how to beat our D.

I got Hahnville winning this at home. Tigers by at least 2 Touchdowns Hopefully you're wrong, because this has some higher meaning to Covington than the Semis. It's revenge for last year's one and out. That being said, I'm afraid Pooka is gonna be too much for our defense and that he'll just run us over, but our own star RB will return the favor. I know I sound conflicted, but never count out the Lions. 35-31 Covington

BREAKING NEWS!!! Hahnville's Pooka Williams is missing. witnesses say that when Pooka was leaving the school today after watching film, a blue van pulled up next to him and two people dressed in Lion costumes jumped out, grabbed him, and threw him in the van!! If you see Pooka, please call The school at 985-758-7537.

Covington gets back to covington football. Brumfield eats and Alfaro gets just enough to our WR’s to pull it out. Lions 42-33.

Just saw the clip of Pooka kicking the player from Ruston. Was there really no penalty? Looks like a pretty blatant kick. And is he really being cheered on and praised for what should have easily been called a personal foul? Where’s the class Hahnville?

Calpreps has a Covington win 28-27. This should be a good one.

After seeing them last week, I’m convinced that Covington’s front 7 can contain solid running games. Hahnville has a different approach than Ouachita, but the Lion’s three man rushing attack of Jabari Johnson, Dylan Roberts, and Chaunzavia Lewis combined are comparable to Pooka Williams. (Yes, I am making a 3:1 comparison 😊) This game will be determined by Hahnville’s D vs. Covington’s O. Not sure if Hahnville can match the size and power of Covington’s offensive front and Devin Brumfield. Covington took some risks last week by trying to throw against OPHS’s man-coverage. The result was 2 picks (1 was trumped by a defensive holding pentalty on the opposite side of the field) and 2 completions (a dump to the TE off of PA for a TD, and a throwback to the QB from Brumfield for a TD). If Hahnville can slow Covington’s run game enough, and lock up their recievers, they win. Pooka will score. Covington has to keep pace. After going through both games last week, I feel like Hahnville’s D has a taller task. We shall see.
Covington- 35 Hahnville-21

Pooka Williams is the best player in the state.... PERIOD The refs called back 160 yards on Pooka. He still had 300 yards of total offense.

Pooka Williams is the best player in the state.... PERIOD My first time watching him live (live stream). He is all that. Saw film on him, but it doesn’t do him justice. He is one of the most explosive players that I have ever seen at this level.

Being there, home field advantage was our downfall. Josh, our QB, got a minor injury, which, apparently took him back in time to his sopre year. That's what he looked like. This was not 2017 Covington. This was something else. Injury and that Hahnville crowd overtook this team. Congratulations Hahnville, now you gotta win State.

You’re right this wasn’t the same Covington team i’ve Watched all year. Worst game Josh had all year. He made poor decisions and towards the end of the game our O-line was getting blown off the ball. The players have to take responsibility for that BUT I believe Salter flat out got out coached. That was a big part of it also. Lots of blame to go around but the hell with Hahnville. I hope Acadiana crushes them by 3 TD’s. Their whole setup for watching a game is stupid. I’ll sleep good at night if I never have to go back to that stadium.

The band had completely given up on them after the 3rd Q. Let's be honest here. This was a terrible match up for Covington. We have NO ONE on defense that could match up with Pooka. That kid is electric and a one of a kind player. Almost 300 yards with another 140 called back on holds. Giive him a crease and he is gone. Mendhiem the safety probably led the team in tackles, I heard his name all night. He was the last line of defense. They're going to the semis sonits hard to argue their success, but they truly are a one man show. Zero passing game, mediocre defense, Brumfield had over 250. But let's not put this on Alfaro. I agree, he was. It the same player last night, but he had a TD dropped and several other key drops. The back breaker IMO, was the KO return after we scored and got the 2 pt conversion to pull to within 3. That was the key play!

Covington has a great group of kids that play as a team and I’m proud of that! Alfaro has been great this year but last night he wasn’t. As the QB and team captain you have to be held responsible. He under three the TD to the fullback for the TD, overthrew a WR for a TD, threw one to a WR on a 10 yard out route that was know where near catchable, and held the ball too long instead of getting rid of it and taking the sack. Especially the latter are things that hurt the team. It’s not all on him though. Our defense didn’t have to matchup with Pooka. Everyone knows we don’t have the athletes for that but you can contain him and make someone else beat you. Hahnville QB did a good job running the ball when the defense was keying on Pooka. With all that said, coaching or lack thereof was a big factor. Hahnville couldn’t stop Brumfield so why quit feeding him. I know he runs it ALOT already but if it’s me I’m running him until they stop it. At least Pooka is on the sidelines. Just my two sense. Great season but it’s a shame it ended this way. We are better than we played last night!

It drives me crazy when teams don’t take the time to develop a kicker. Not doing so is the equivalent of free throw shooting in basketball.

there is no way Acadiana will beat Hahnville Friday. This is a nightmare match-up for the Rams. Covington tried but they could not contain the duo of Mr. Louisiana Football, Pooka Williams, and Quarterback, Jha'Quan Jackson. Pooka is AVERAGING OVER 300 YARDS A GAME in the playoffs! How the hell is Acadiana going to stop that? Too much speed for the Rams. Much respect to the Rams and the tremendous tradition they have, but their run ends Friday. Let this sink in. Had his 2 TDs not been called back dude would have had over 400 yards rushing.

I don't remember a single pass throughout every Hahnville drive. This is a one dimensional team. I still don't think Acadiana can beat Hahnville though. Pooka is too elusive.

You are correct, he isn't a QB, but he is their QB, and he did a heck of a job running their offense. My guess is that the coach was so successful running the ball, why risk throwing it? Personally, I think Covington should have done something similiar and ran Brumfield more. Set up some different runs and some screen passes to him, with that huge O-Line blocking. Honestly, I think 2 things doomed you guys: 1. Bad play calling 2. Very poor decisions by tthe QB

Everyone knows just how good Pooka is does Hahnville have any other offensive weapons how is their def. are they just this running back only. can they win without him They absolutely cannot win without Pooka. What he does for that offense besides igniting them with yards and TDS is his success as a DECOY! That's one of his biggest contributions to the team. Covington, like so many other teams, keyed in on Pooka, which allowed the QB to do some serious damage on the ground. The QB finished with 87 yards and 3 TDs. They run a very simple offense, but the issue is stopping it. If Pooka gets a small crease, he's gone. No one on Acadiana's team will catch him. They don't pass much but I think if they are forced to pass, they can, especially short routes which I feel they will be very successful in.
