Yea, I can’t imagine he was happy about the 4-5 turnovers in a Jamboree. I’d like to more exact, but I lost count. Threw 3 picks and a fumble. The Panther's must not have a FG kicker. They could have put the game away with a kicker. Instead, they threw a pass in the end zone with 15 sec. left to their "go to guy", but it was picked off by VC's Free Safety. VC will be tough to stop in Div 4. Great game though. So is VC that good? Is CHNI Down? Or a combination of both?

I also don't think Catholic will be quite as good as last year.

West St. John- 26 Donaldsonville- 16 Assumption - 6 St.James - 0 St. James program took a step back or they jus didn’t play well last night? I think they’ve definitely too a step back. Very young and they do have some pretty good athletes, but not enough to make noise. Best playmaker from last year ( a Jr now ) forced to play qb. Best wr is a freshman. He will be a stud years ahead..older brother is a fresh. at miss st. This year will be a learning curve for a lot of the players tho. Big front 7 on defense but all new starters except the middle lb

Madison Prep 13 McKinley 0
Not much to see here. Neither Oline was particularly good. Opening kick return by #5 for prep, McKinley turns it over on first offensive snap, prep scored on a bubble screen. McKinley had a nice kick return to start the second half then turned it over. Plenty of penalties for prep(tell me if you’ve heard that before). #9 the DE was good all night for prep. McKinley May have 40 kids.
As of now don’t see Prep beating a good Sterlington, Kaplan type ball clubs.

Rayne beat Kaplan 13 to 12. Both teams have big holes to fill from last year's semi run. Kaplan is tough on both lines. They have good running backs but seem to lack the homerun hitter that they have had in the past. The passing game needs work. They never threw much, but did it enough and effective enough to keep the defense honest. They will hit speed bumps along the way, but once it clicks for them they will be ok and make another run. Rayne looked ok. They hit on some big plays. The qb looked good, just young. It will be hard to replace the backfield they had last year, but they have guys that can hold their own. If the qb can come around, the passing game will open up the running game. It was an evenly matched game. Rayne just broke one more play than Kaplan. Turnovers hurt both teams, especially Rayne. 2 fumbles inside the 5 yard line.
Church Point beat Erath 32 to 6. Erath looks to be improved from last year. They went to a spread offense. Qb just stares down his receiver and doesn't go through progressions. They have pretty good athletes across the field, but nobody stands out over the others. Depth will be there biggest problem. Maybe win a few games this year and get more kids to come out next year. Church Point tweaked their offense somewhat. Showed a few different formations and tried some new things. Qb threw the ball pretty good. Not great but good. If they can hit a few passes and with that running game they will be tough. A young line seems to be coming together. Defense is very similar to last year. A young secondary has speed and will take shape with game reps. D line is stout. The linebackers are not big but are quick and play well side to side.
It was a fun jamboree to watch. I think the 4 teams should have good years. Erath may be a year away from playoffs, but the other 3 should do well come November.

Anyone know how the Kaplan/Rayne game went? I got a 12 to 13 score but can't confirm. My source isn't reliable. Thanks. That score is correct Thanks!

STM 21 Acadiana 13 2:18 remaining Acadiana is going to run over 5A again this year. I don't know about running all over 5A teams this year. The Rams have to mature a little bit and cut down on some of the silly penalties they were committing last night. Our db's had the Cougar recievers covered and that qb put the ball where only the receiver can catch it. Look for Acadiana to roll over people especially in Distrix. The penalties hurt them on the first drive of the second half and STM Capitalized. Had that not occurred or gone the other way, it would have been a 1 or 2 point game. AGAIN..... STM could not stop the Acadiana rushing attack.

Haynesville 41 Lakeside 6
Haynesville has a lot of players going both ways. Not a lot of depth but the starters are solid. Really good on the D-line and in the secondary. LBers are good but not as strong as last year. Offense looked crisp not many mistakes which is always good this time of year. We will be hard to beat if we can stay healthy.

North Webster 24 Cedar Creek 6
North Webster running more of a spread offense this year. Lots of skill guys that can play. Starting QB didn’t play for NW I believe he hurt his knee last week, but the kid filling in for him did a good job. They are average up front on both sides of the ball. I wasn’t overly impressed with line play. CC was a scrappy bunch like always. Not much size all around but have a few skill guys that are quick. The middle of their defense struggled tonight. They will struggle against teams with big O-lines and good running games.
The NW/Haynesville game will be a very close game next week. I think we are better up front on both sides of the ball, but NW has more team speed and WAY more depth. I think they dressed around 72 players.
