This Friday night the Parkway Panthers will travel to west Shreveport to take on the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles in the 2018 District 1-5A opener at Rodney Duron Field. The Panthers will try to do what no other team in the greater Shreveport- Bossier area and that is to end the longest home district/conference winning streak in the state and country at Rodney Duron Field which is now 75. Evangel is 75-0 at Rodney Duron Field in district play and hasn’t lost a game in district play since November 2, 1990 to Plain Dealing 70-20 during the Eagles first year of high school football at Calvary Field (now Jerry Barker Stadium). Only four schools have gotten close to ending the streak at RDF:
1991 Logansport (ECA won 15-14) 1993 Logansport (ECA won 14-13) 2001 Ruston (ECA won 29-12) 2006 Calvary (ECA won 20-19) 2007 Homer (ECA won 48-42) 2012 Calvary (ECA won 49-42)
In 75 games at Rodney Duron Field ECA has averaged 47 points to their opponents 17.
The Eagles are 149-5 in district play since 1990 and they could win their 150th district game.
Will the streak end this Friday night at Rodney Duron Field or can the Eagles go for number 76?

Memo to Evangel fans and coaches: Please check all facts posted in this thread. They may be right but it probably wouldn't hurt to double-check.

This is an interesting statistic. I'd be interested in West Monroe's home district streak. The last loss I can remember is Ouachita winning in OT in 1993. Neville won in 1994 and 1995, Neville's last win over the Rebels, but one of those was at Neville and one was at ULM. How can I check this?

Technically y’all lost to ND in 1998. But I guess if you break the rules playing you are comfortable breaking the rule counting a streak.

I have a few questions.
How do you technically lose a game?
Who is ND?
When the heck did they play in Evangel's district?
What rules did Evangel break?

You claimed Evangel "technically lost" and that they broke the rules. That has nothing to do with you misunderstanding that the post was about home district wins.
Is the 48-6 win over Notre Dame in 1998 the game that you claim Evangel technically lost?

I have a serious question. I always assumed ECA forfeited the first 3 games in 1998, because i thought i read that somewhere. But the Times article on May 19, 1999 doesn't say that. it's unclear about what 3 games. Does anyone know for sure or have another source? Attachment Deleted

Actually in 2015, we lost our last district game to Byrd at home. It was a loss that we remembered the entire next year when we won our State Championship. It was a game that we took for granted and learned that if you slack up anyone can beat you. That year there was a 3 way tie for District Champ (ECA, Parkway, Byrd). ECA beat Parkway, Parkway beat Byrd, and Byrd beat ECA. So I appreciate the buildup before this very important game but it seems a lot of people forget that Byrd Game.

I rarely defend Evangel but here: I was at the 2015 Byrd-Evangel game. It was at Lee Hedges. Byrd did win 24-16. The following year, Evangel beat Byrd 52-0 at home in 2016 in route to a State Championship. The home district streak lives on.

I was at the game as well and could have sworn it was at home but I was wrong. Thank you for setting the record straight. As for the upcoming game, it will be a great watermark game for ECA to gauge what type of season is in front of them. I know it is hard to judge a team based on 3 games vs elite teams but just based off what I have seen talent wise and coaching, this team is not as good as the last few years and will struggle against teams they normally would demolish. I sincerely hope they find themselves as the program is still very good and needs to weather this transition period.

The Notre Dame game was a non district game in 98

I have a serious question. I always assumed ECA forfeited the first 3 games in 1998, because i thought i read that somewhere. But the Times article on May 19, 1999 doesn't say that. it's unclear about what 3 games. Does anyone know for sure or have another source? I am pretty sure it was the first three games. When the mom of the kid in question moved out of Evangel's so-called zone, Evangel removed him from the team. That is why he only played clear-the-bench kick coverage at the very end of three games.
A year later the LHSAA in their infinite wisdom ruled that even though the LHSAA had ruled the kid eligible to play at Evangel, that when his Mom moved a second time it meant that he was never eligible to begin with. The LHSAA punished Evangel, when the LHSAA were the ones who made the mistake. Even that moron Tommy Henry admitted that Evangel did nothing wrong. That's bureaucracy for you. I think they made a movie about this incident called Catch 22.
I kind of wanted indy to talk about the forfeit so that I could argue with him. I guess I am going to have to give him credit for not going down that road. Well played.

Streak comes to an end at the hands of Parkway. I don't know if Evangel even believe in themselves anymore. Just seems like they gave up in the last game. I don't know if they have what it takes mentally to beat Parkway

Parkway though looks like they have the team that can actually do it.

I want sooooo badly to see Parkway win this game but every time we've thought they had the team to beat Evangel they've gotten embarrassed. They somehow get down early on a special team's play or something out of the ordinary and can't recover. I do think if there's a perfect storm of circumstances with parkway being super talented and evangel being down a bit plus dejected at losing some early season games this could be the year the streak is broken. If Parkway handled Pulaski last week I think they can handle Evangel on offense. The question will be can Parkway score on Evangels defense? I think this time they may be able to. It's always a bad idea to pick against the Eagles but I'm goiing to go out on a limb and say Parkway 20 Evangel 17.

What if I give you guys some "bulletin board" material to fire the eagles up. I was thinking about getting a video camera, putting on some Parkway gear and a mask, buying a huge stuffed eagle piñata, taking a huge 2x4 and whacking the living hell out of it while talking a bunch of smack about how the eagles suck this year! Then after the eagle piñata is torn all to shreds and laying on the dusty ground, i can piss on it while laughing into the camera

Could be wrong for i have not seen E play this year. so i just don't know if E has lost their mojo.
