I only work in Lake Charles actually Hackberry but yea it does some good to get out of Kinder on occasion. I'm kind of a black sheep any way. Ah ok I thought u lived in LC. I thought u had said something about your kid going to Barbe when he got older. I had relocated there for a little while but moved back to Kinder because I was working a lot and easier to visit family. I thought my son was gunna be going there but also found out last week his mom is moving back so he will be a yellow jacket as well

On 1 hand, I was a good bit surprised because my boys team played Westlake down to the last 6 seconds, where the Chaps pulled out a win with a field goal. That's not a slight to Vandegrift, but I just really didn't think our kids had it in 'em. Evidently, they almost do. On the other hand, I knew if they could contain the Cav's passing game, I knew the Chaps would have a shot. And we're talking about Tood Dodge. He wasn't going to just go forever with Lake Travis beating Westlake. Dude can coach. It's really kind of a weird thing because I know you can't judge how team a would play team c based on how they played team b. But, I was underwhelmed with Westlake. That said, after seeing them beat Lake Travis, it's evident how Judson beat the pants off of Lake Travis. Honestly, I feel like this year, both teams are a little bit over rated. They are still contenders, but not like they usually are. Don’t want to turn this into a TXHSFB thread but watch out for Klein Collins and Westfield out of the Houston area, they are probably the best bets for state out of that area. Converse Judson is looking incredible! Katy has a starting qb that is a freshman, but he is a big kid, great arm and parents too. If Katy isn’t in it this year Watch out for next year Katy is in the discussion every year. And they've been that way for a LONG time. When Southlake was running the show in Texas, Katy was there and on their heels. Katy is still there and subject to win it all on any given year. KC and Westfield are good teams. Playoff caliber teams most years.

North Desoto is another one that appears to just reload, tons of D1 caliber athletes all over the field. Until recently, Longview was pretty much in this same vein.

Peppy was a great horse and would run like the wind. Until you came any sort of water and then she'd nut up. Longview will have these seasons where nobody can even stay on the field with them for a half and then they come to a creek (the playoffs) and then they just randomly shut down. It's like a weird timer goes off and they decide to move on to basketball season right then and there. seriously, I think their 1 state title was in like 1935 or something. It's a tragedy, really. DeSoto is a nightmare, no doubt about that. Lots of talent there. In DFW in general, there is a lot of talent. They always have a handful of teams up there that are subject to win the whole thing and make it look easy when they do it.

For the most part I agree with you on Longview; however, they they did make it to 2 consecutive state championship games and had the misfortune of running into Garrett Gilbert led Lake Travis. The first game they were curb stomped, the second was close.

The first game they were curb stomped, the second was close. I still scratch my head about the 1st game they had with Lake Travis. They skulldragged ECA that year. The week after that, ECA was in Austin and lost to Lake Travis in a game that really was a bit closer than the score indicated. I realize there is folly in trying to determine what will happen based on a common opponent, but still. Longview was poised to win that game and didn't. I'm still a bit sour over the ECA/Lake Travis deal. Should have been a home and home. ECA came to Austin and part of the loss was being hosed by the refs. It just made me question what the outcome would have been had the game not been played in Austin with Gilbert being a UT commit. Then the next season, LT backs out of coming to Shreveport. It was just shaky, IMO. They would have very likely beat the pants off ECA in Shreveport and maybe they felt like that would have been the case and it wasn't worth their time to travel. I dunno. It doesn't help my feelings for them that I have to live up the road and deal with their snobbery all the time around here. But the loss to Westlake has kind of quietened some of that down a little. We still have them for last game of the season though. If our guys can control their passing game a bit, we may get lucky. They won't run on our guys though. Of that, I'm sure. We have a bye this week, so I may slip on down and watch Hays/Vista Ridge play. If VR can win, that'll likely force Westlake into DivI with Lake Travis. Plus, our guys play Hays the week after, so catching their game wouldn't be a bad thing in regards to my boy having an idea about what's next for his squad.
