I'm pretty sure teams would much rather play in the new era pinstripe bowl than the Bahamas bowl or Hawaii bowl.

Not sure who was taking this back to the "split". I just know that back in the 80's (I know the dark ages) we were never given the option to change the date or time of the game. I agree it is for both safety and gate $$$ that these decisions are made now.
I do have a question though, with the shortage of ref's in certain areas and some games already on Thursday's because of this, who decides which games get moved/changed if all the schools decided to? Don't all the schools deserve the same amount of "safety" and the chance for a big gate?

Between the loss of gate money, driving conditions for fans and the visiting teams, and the potential for pneumonia, flu, or overall sickness from playing in a downpour in 50 degree weather or below I would say the movement of these games is a good call. Kids could miss school or their week 10 games from getting sick because some old school guys thought they were pansies

Especially in Louisiana and Texas

Getting pneumonia from being cold is a myth by the way. Look it up

Play the game when it’s scheduled to be played. Stop being soft. So what happens when rain and frigid 45 degree temperatures are forecast for Thursday-Saturday. Do we cancel those game because well....Wet and cold. Can’t play.... lol soft America

You'll be happy to know that Cedar Creek will be playing our game in the cold rain.

I get it from a gate perspective though. I remember playing Mangham in a frigid downpour. I have zero fond memories of it, but I do remember it.

How about the quality of the football will be much better. There is zero logic in the other side of this argument.

Would do you think the teams in northern USA do? Postpone games until the spring?

Guess if we expecting some lightning with this front, I'd rather see it played on Thursday rather than see 22 caskets from a direct lightning strike to the field. Don't think there was the option to move games years ago like today. Besides, a sprinkle or little light rain wouldn't be bad, but with lightning, you don't get another chance. Our weatherman we watch is not right enough to know what's going to happen.

Iota @ Pine Prairie will still be Friday as of now. Final decision will be made in the morning, but it probably won’t change.

Would do you think the teams in northern USA do? Postpone games until the spring? No, but they do take more safe and common senses approaches to the issues. They do play games during daylight hours to keep from the rediculous temperature drops that come at night. They also build their roads and bridges to suit that type of weather, so traveling isn’t quite as dangerous. When it comes to a safety issue, why would you chance it...and as far as the gate goes, you’re gonna lose a lot of people playing on a Thursday night, probably as many as you’re gonna lose to bad weather, so why take the chance?

I was told severe weather for 2 straight days. If it's just cold weather then I agree. But let's not make a strawman here. Which is it

Which is it I don't know about the rest of the state but in swla it says 70% Friday with rainfall up to 1" and Saturday is 0% chance of rain. It says showers so can't be to severe.

Well that changes things even though I have no problem moving a game to avoid a wet field bit could be an overreaction

OGFan87 & Cressy, you guys do like me & wrap up and get to the football field! LOLOL Cold weather affects me a lot more at my age than it used to do, but going to watch the Union Parish invasion at Sterlington. Should be a great one!!! In my humble opinion...

Let me start off by saying I slept at a Holiday Inn last night. The rain in south La will not start until after 10:30 Friday night and be over by the time you wake up Saturday morning. If you are playing on Friday night bring you some waterproof clothes and a pint of your favorite whiskey..

Everyone is moving games to avoid weather being a factor on their offense. “So-and-so would have won, but those 5 turnovers due to sloppy field conditions...” In my opinion it adds another element to coaching strategy and can benefit some teams that know how to control the ball use the weather to their advantage.

But to question their toughness is insane to me. Someone stated what would these coaches and players do if it was predicted to be freezing rain from Thursday-Saturday. I'm willing to bet they would still play. But that's not the situation here. The situation is to play in moderately cool weather and 0% chance of rain on Thursday or close to freezing temperatures and 70% chance of rain on Friday. Everyone is entitled to their own choices and opinions but to choose the better weather is not weak. If they cancelled the games completely then I'd agree that's being weak but nobody has cancelled yet (to my knowledge) because of the weather that's coming in.
