At what point did we officially decide to start moving games because it may be cold and rainy. Is that not what’s great about football? Playing in the elements. Both teams have to play in it. When did we start getting soft in football? I knew America was soft and society in general is getting soft, but are we seriously moving games because the temperatures may be cold and there might be some rain! Wow wow wow.

Welcome to pansy America, where everyone is offended and everyone wins. We cancel school because its too cold and cancel practice because it too hot. We play violent sports but cry bc it's too violent.

Yes, while it was actually snowing and stayed on the ground. When I say not long ago, I mean like less than 10 yrs ago.

When I say not long ago, I mean like less than 10 yrs ago. Yes I remember that as well. I saw a playoff game in the snow at Parkview Baptist less than 10 years ago! Parkview wore different uniforms in the second half. Little advantage. Their opponent had to stay in their snowy, muddy, uniforms in the elements during halftime where as Parkview went drink hot chocolate and change units.

I know I would! My guess gate money was a factor in Welsh moving our game. I don't blame them one bit. I'm kinda glad it's on Thursday, I'm gonna go watch Catholic and AE on Friday, double up on tailgating!

I know I would! yall probably got their money already... yall need the money of the townspeople and the casual fans who don't want to sit in certain weather... will say this though... i hope it's bad enough now on Friday that yall think yall made a good decision by moving games... meanwhile NOLA won't get that front till Saturday...

Neville vs Lutcher 2009. Semi-finals!! Coldest I've ever been at a sporting event! Neville dominated a Jarvis Landry Lutcher Team. Sleet, 20 mph wind in the 20's. Snow storm on the way home

Lightening is a big factor now. They have to wait 25 minutes after the last strike to resume play. But the fact is cold fronts seldom have lightening.

While I'm on board with we are becoming soft as a society I don't get the negative feelings on this just seems like common sense. As was already said more fans can attend in better weather. Why make it as hard on the fans as possible just to prove a point. Plus children and older fans would be at a higher risk of getting sick in bad weather. Why make people make that choice when it's easy to move? Get the biggest gate you can. A lot of these programs need the money. Also I don't see this as being soft, we are just smarter than we use to be in a lot of areas. Are we soft for not letting players go back in with concussions because we use to? For that matter are we soft because we use anti biotics when we are sick, would older generations be ashamed of that. I agree not all change is for the better but I don't see this as anything more than the fact that we know more now about safety. And big games have been moved from Friday to Thursday for a long time. Lets people from other areas attend.

No I don't see the connection this time. Seems like a huge reach. Suppose to be pretty bad weather right not just scattered showers?

Also when the last front just passed down here, you are talking about 50mph wind gusts. Damn front was blowing shingles off my roof. Odds are it wont be that bad, but if it is I don't want our team out there in that crap.

in this day and age of MONEY running everything, you can bet the gate money for good weather vs bad weather had a ton to do with it. Just my opinion though.

As they should be, along with safety as the number one priority. Proving how tough or old school you are should be the last thing considered.

I didn't know being cold and wet was a safety issue. Don't forget, people have to drive to and fro these games too... Its different in college and pro bc TV forces you to play at a certain time unless the weather is historically bad

You don't see playing on a wet field and in possible storms as a safety issue for players and fans?

You don't see playing on a wet field and in possible storms as a safety issue for players and fans? Unfortunately, you have a lot of people on here just looking for things to complain about...or of course, make it somehow relate back to the split. Why take the risk of putting people out in dangerous weather when you don’t have to? As long as the two schools playing don’t object, why would anyone with half a brain consider this a bad thing?

Thank you Kinder. Since when does not wanting to play in the rain and close to freezing temperatures weak? Yea I'm sure most of us have played in that type of weather but come on. No one was jumping for joy at the thought of freezing cold water hitting you all night long. So I'm confused as to what the problem is. With a little over a week left in the regular season and playoffs around the corner, I think it's smart that coaches don't want their players battling even a cold during that time.

I guess the NFL is weak for playing Superbowls in New Orleans, Miami, and LA instead of Buffalo and Green Bay? The NCAA should start playing more Bowl games in the Northeast to show how manly the athletes are?
