I'm just curious what all schools out there run the triple option? I hardly ever see it ran and its one of my favorite things to watch.

Haven’t seen a Eunice High game in years, but they used to run it very well. I know Coach Trosclair is still there, so maybe their still running it? Of course John Curtis has done it better than anyone over the years.

I've seen several dabble, but not very many fully commit to it. Kinder, Lake Arthur, Buckeye, Bunkie, Sacred Heart VP, Springfield, Union, Sterlington. Most of those use some option game, but not to the extent to be 'true' triple option. Dabbling in it doesn't make it near as effective.

Pine Prairie(I and Veer)(to a certain extent), Curtis(Veer), St. Ed’s(Flexbone), Byrd(don’t know if they’re still a flexbone team), Acadiana(Veer), Buckeye(Flexbone) Port Barre used to run it in Veer sets.
Wing-T teams can run it off the Belly play, but the dive option is a skill that needs to be worked every day and most don’t so coaches call it.

West Feliciana runs a version of it, not an exact triple.
Live Oak runs the triple option, even bought in Bob Howell as an assistant to help

I'm lucky enough to have been coached by him. Always thought highly of him as a coach.

Ahhh Bob had retired and Brett Beard called him out to see a practice, next thing he knew Bob was back on the sideline. He’s settled in the Baton Rouge area

Alot of teams still run the veer, which is of course a version of the triple option, but the only team I seen recently that is strictly truely triple option tendencies is Parkview Baptist.

West Feliciana runs a version of it, not an exact triple. I don't think you've watched WF that often. They are exactly the same as Parkview

The Ramblin’ Wreck is poetry in motion when it’s working. Easily my favorite offense. Don’t know why more middle and high school coaches don’t use it. Everybody wants to be cute these days and line up in the shotgun smh.

Having a thread on the triple option and not mentioning West Monroe is like having a thread on rock and roll and not mentioning Elvis. Or maybe you guys are just too young to remember. West Monroe built a powerhouse on the triple option and back in the day nobody ran it better. Rebel quarterbacks were always great runners and they always had a fast running halfback back and a tough fullback.
Evangel dominated West Monroe in football and was able to contain the triple option overall but I can tell you they gave up some big plays. Evangel fans held their breath on a lot of plays.
I remember a play in the game West Monroe won at Independence Stadium where their quarterback faked to the fullback, then faked a pitchout, cut up field at about his own 25 yard line and when I say he saw nothing but green that's an understatement. There was nobody within 25 yards of him. Fortunately Evangel had D back named Jonathon Wade who happened to be a world class high school track athlete and he came all the at from the opposite side of the field and caught the WM quarterback at about the ten yard line. And this was a fast quarterback I'm talking about. Just one of my memories of the glory days.
One more. I was leaving a game at Independence Stadium between West Monroe and Longview. Longview was always big and mean in those days. I passed just a short distance from the action as I was leaving. West Monroe had the ball on the Longview 10 or 15 yard line. The WM fullback took the handoff on the triple option up the middle and I thought I was watching a bar room fight. The FB meant to get it in the end zone and the big Longview defense meant to keep him out. That was the most violent high school play I have ever seen. The grass and dust flew and the hitting sounded like a fireworks display. Those were the days.

Because many fans don’t like how mundane it can be diving the ball every other play to set up the homerun, which slows the game down considerably.

When I was at SU Lab, Dunham would run that wing on us and snap the ball with 2 seconds left on the play clock every down to slow the game down. And they beat us one time like that.

Pine fans aren’t too fond of the Veer either. When it’s moving 3-6 yards at a time they start grumbling about it.

We don’t run the triple option but when we’re in our run heavy set, it’s like the coaching staff views a 4 yard run as a negative play. I just don’t understand that.

Nothing like watching a well coached triple option attack against a well coached and disciplined 4-2-5 (or whatever you want to call it) defense. I'll take it any day over the no huddle, pass happy shoot outs that seem to be turning into the norm. And before anyone jumps down my throat about it, I'm not saying one is better than the other, just rather watch a battle of attrition than a shootout.

How can anyone mention triple option without mentioning oak grove? Specializes in running it for years.

Bruuuhhh, I hated playing Dunham when we were all in the same district lol. Played keep away every single time we played them with that wing-t! We played them twice my sopre and senior year.
