There was a bit of turnover in Class 2A from reclassification so its hard to pinpoint a prohibitive favorite. In Division III its not as complicated. So who does everybody think are the top teams in 2A and Division III ? Mine are below.
Class 2A Kinder Lakeside Loreauville Rosepine French Settlement Division III Riverside Catholic NI Dunham Notre Dame St. Thomas Aquinas
Other teams to watch Welsh Calvary Baptist DeQuincy Ascension Episcopal Many Newman Menard Winnfield

Kinder should be the favorite from what I hear they have returning. Welsh also has alot returning. Dequincy should be solid as well

Our first game is in a couple of weeks, against DeRidder as usual, if it doesn't get rained out. Then our tournament that weekend. Wonder who is in it this year.

It usually Rosepine, Menard, and St. Ed that we play. We had Mamou that was a district team in the tournament too but we didn't play them so if ND is in our tournament we probably won't play them but its not unheard of for district teams to meet up in a tournament. Tournament game results can be deceiving because coaches like to tinker with lineups in those games and play boys that might not be starters once district starts. But they are also a way to build depth for district and the playoffs. That's why coaches like to enter these tournaments.

Kinder's bats were hot though. And there's so much depth in each position. If Kinder's ready to play some ball, they have a great chance of going far. If someone is slacking, there's a somebody waiting to play just as good if not better at every position. I've got a great feeling about this team. Looking forward to watching how this season will play out! ππ

I haven't been able to watch any Loreauville practices yet so I'll know more after tomorrows scrimmage. Lots of young talent and should have plenty of offense. Pitching might be a question though.

Welsh , Rosepine, South Beau scrimmage was last night. First game Welsh vs Rosepine welsh looked really good. All three pitchers in the 5 inning game pitched well. Bats got hot early on with good base running. Them came on strong again toward the end. Rosepine the lefty threw well and defense was solid. Welsh won 7-0 and only allowed two hits. Welsh vs South Beau. South Beau took advantage of walks in first inning three straight walks and three pitches that went into dirt the knights took advantage of getting up 4-0 in the first. Welsh brought in a pitcher to get out of the innings then settled in making a comeback to Tie the game 4-4 going into the last inning. Welsh has a chance to take the lead 5-4 on past ball but runner held at 3rd. South Beau won 6-4 their short stop who started pitching played really well. Also 2nd base made a highlight real catch two save a run. Welsh played backups the last two innings in the field to get a look at some up and coming kids. I believe all three of these teams will be solid

I'm 2A there is no doubt lakeside is a top 5 team, but from what I'm hearing pitching could hold them back this year. They are returning a Lot of starters from there state runner up team so anything could happen.

We will be young this year, lost quite a bit from last years squad that was one game away from the tournament. Our pitching is still solid (we no hit Westlake in our first scrimmage) but our bats will need some time to catch up. We will probably start quite a few sopres and at least 2 freshman.

Welsh 5 Rayne 3 in scrimmage. Both teams had a few nice hits defense for both were pretty solid I believe only two total Errors between the two. Few pitchers got in binds for both teams but were able to get out their jam. Both teams left some Stranded runners but hats off to the pitchers for getting out of. Bind when needed.

Our district could be one of the toughest in the state. Can't wait to see how it plays out. Been waiting for Welsh to have a breakout year. Winning their first playoff game last year was a big step. Might sound crazy coming from a Kinder guy but i was happy when Welsh started their baseball and softball programs. Rivalries are one of the best things about high school and college sports.

The rival seems to be alive and well! Score is 4-0 bottom of the second and we're down. Doesn't help that our plate umpire sent a St Louis batter to first with a walk with a 3-1 count and called a guy safe on a force at the plate and our catcher clearly caught the ball standing on the plate! Needless to say Coach Kenney has made a few trips out there to voice his opinion on the callsπππ But if anything it's got our boys loud and proud in the dugout. Morale is good. Hopefully will dig ourselves out of this!

He does call time out first! ! He's usually pretty level headed but he'll give it his best shot to argue a bad call when it's due. Are you a Notre Dame fan? If so you'll get to see him in action soonππ

I'd much rather see a coach call time and go talk in private to his umpire than have crazy third base coach screaming at the top of his lungs at blue. Only bad thing with Coach Kenney's approach is we can't hear what he's sayingππ»ππ»ππ»

I'm ready for the ND/Kinder rilvalry that should take shape this year. To be completely honest I feel that Kinder might have a little more than the PIO's this year and I'm a ND guy. Our pitching this year will be suspect, but if they come along we should be alright. With our new coaching staff I think we will be fine. Stevens is a good baseball mind and with Robicheaux comming back to coach the pitches hopefully we can see some improvements over last year's team. The only like opponent we've had is Iota during a 4 inning umpires scrimmage and ND won 7-2. It should be a fun season I'm looking forward to it.

But we need it if we are gonna be able to compete with you guys(Kinder) once district gets here.

We've got a very talented district and taking Notre Dame or Welsh lightly would be suicide. I'm not familiar with Lake Arthur or Ville Platte's program but yet again wouldn't want to not take those games seriously. Playing up is the absolute best way to push a team and continue to get better. We've got DeRidder, Sulphur, Vermillion Catholic, West Lake, Menard, LaGrange for scheduled games. And we'll meet up in two different tourneys with Choudrant, Union Parish, Erath, and Catholic, PC is how it's listed on the schedule. You have any idea who that is? I'm guessing from up north maybe since it's the Trey Altick Invitational in Monroe. And of course we will meet up later in the season with St Louis Catholic again. We will also play Rosepine. For some reason that team puts the voodoo on us. We haven't managed to beat them in several years!
