JC hasnt won in a few years. You have to change with the world. Players want to play in the spread and no huddle. Thats what all high school, college, hell even pro teams are doing. Change it up or get left with the times. You might win a state title but develope a WR or QB i doubt it. This is why Texas,Florida, and Georiga produce well. They've change with the football world. Kids need to be college ready. [ you think that John Curtis’ atrocious four year drought is because they don’t run the spread? I didnt write what I thought about JC i stated a fact. I wrote JC hasn't won in a few years, but if want to know what i think about JC here's what! I think they don't produce great wideouts, and passing is 90 percent of the game today. Nobody really wants to watch smash mouth football all gd game. WR wanna be involved in the game more than just to block. Also that TE that went to TAMU cant catch, but will make a gd tackle. He just needs to play clean no hitting below the belt.

Been running spread since inception.. sterlington embarrassed a talent loaded Madison prep running the old west Monroe I. People, it don’t matter what you run. It does not matter! What matters is how well you run it and whom you have running it. Malachi Dupree faired ok coming out of a Cave man offense. Kid from Jena played 3 years in triple option missed senior year with injury. Had offers from Uf, ms state, tcu, Kansas, every School in Louisiana and a couple dozen more. Why? because he has the tools. Just like Dupre has the tools. Wouldn’t have mattered if they ran the dead t in high school they had the talent the college coaches recognized the talent and they got their shot.

People are actually passing the ball alot. JC got beat in the BOB by a Georgia team. Why ? I think they werent familiar with the team and that team just out played them flat out. #I was there

Dupree has size. Post his college career stats they dont jump off the screen. Lol because he didn’t play in the spread in high school? Lol! yes. 7 on 7 he was a beast. Watch how Marshall give them that work this year. He played spread in high school. Watch his college career stats. All im saying is if your are a 6'3 receiver which offense would you excel more in Karr or JC. Rb oline JC all day. But times are changing its about the oline qb and wr on offense. Hell even the Rb better know how to catch well.

Not because of what offense he played in in high school.

West Monroe switched to the spread in 2013. Last title was 2011. Last year running the triple option was 2012. Would have won it all that year, if not for the amazing Miracle on Beal St.

Buddy up there just told me he heard he was being moved to the freshman team so he decided to leave. [ That is what happened. Joey Adams to QBs and Joe Breen, Bobby Breen’s brother to RBs. I guess I know a little more than some want to give me credit for.

All. of the above. None, adding to my point. So who’s fault was it, that wm didn’t send qb’s to college the 20 years prior to him being there? Y’all must be related? Doesn’t matter. When you look at the guys that have been there the last few years and the potential they had, it says a lot.

They switched to the spread, and didn’t bring in an ounce of knowledge of that offense. You can’t blame the offense - it beats WM on a regular basis.

Belton was probably the only one with enough talent to play QB at the next level and he never played because of injuries. The rest were good athletes some exceptional athletes that could run and maybe throw a little. Ensminger played a little QB in college I think. Several played college ball at other positions. Belton didn’t have the talent to play QB at the next level- the schools that were recruiting him were not looking at him for QB. He came down to a recruiting showcase at LSU and the write up wasn’t real kind and they had no interest. BTW - he is still playing ball at Tech, so his injuries didn’t prevent anything. Tech moved him to receiver.

Yep, lost to two spread teams in the last 40 games. Guess that explains why you think being right about West Monroe in one post out of 100 makes you a guy in the know.

Nobody knows how good Belton could have been if he had played his junior and senior season. Out of the best arms that came through WM he was the best athlete. Do you look through your crystal ball when you make these determinations?

Isn't that why they developed the other offensive package and wasn't garvin instrumental in that? Besides, foust would've been a college qb if he started every game instead of the two quarterback mess they did a couple years ago

WM went to the RPO so the defense could practice going against it every day. Everyone was running the spread offenses and we were having trouble defending them because we defended the option in practice everyday so the offense would have some good competition to practice against. Now we practice against the spread because we are spread or a version of it.

I’ve said numerous times on here WM needs someone that can develop a QB. Not true. I saw every WM-Evangel game back in the glory days and Coach Shows developed a couple of really strong armed quarterbacks. I remember at least two of them who could consistently hit the peanut vendor two rows up in the stadium. You can't do that without a strong arm.

QB is still an issue, problem not solved... time for them to scout the local junior Highs in north Louisiana...

Especially when you throw it end over end! I'm glad you mentioned that. It brings to mind the most beautiful end over end pass I have ever seen. In the 1999 state title game Evangel's defense backs got completely fooled by a Rebel pass play because WM hardly ever passed the ball and the Eagles weren't expecting a pass. The WM receiver somehow got 20 yards in the open. The WM quarterback sprinted to the right drew a bead on the wide open receiver and threw a beautiful end over end pass straight to Evangel defensive lineman Stevie Lee. At first I thought the Rebels had quick kicked the ball until I realized it only went about 7 yards. It was a beauty.

Found out today that Garvin was let go, get this, because of the semi-final game last season against Zachary. It is anectodal at best information. Seems lame AF and dont trust it even though it comes from a coach.
He was demoted to freshman staff. WtF???
Casey Sanders is retiring soon and Jeremy Many will take over S&C along with being Head Coach of Freshmen Team.
WM hired Offensive Line coach from Ouachita also--strange but quality hire.

Until west monroe hires somebody with some passing game experience they will never be a good passing team.all the coaches at west monroe were brought up in the running game its all they know. It hard to teach what you dont know and they dont know passing

There must be more to this story than meets the eye. Why would you fire a coach for "7 on 7" games when they don't mean anything, and you are not running your offense.
