Why is this not an attractive job? I would think it would be a school that someone could build a winning culture at. Lafayette High is the Arts Academy. Football players were already attending other schools in the parish. Now they open Southside where they allow anybody and everybody to enroll. Most schools build through their middle school programs but I honestly couldn’t tell you which school feed into Lafayette High. Lafayette parish is a whole different world. Lafayette parish literally does what it wants. Lol

I'm not sure, I wouldn't think he would be staying, but then again I have no information to back that up. Any names popping up to replace him? That’s a heckuva district You are absolutely correct, our district is very tough. I'm not sure who all has expressed interest, I do know that the community wants Coach Davis to come back home though.

Not trying to rub salt in the wound or be out of line here, but what's going on with the program specifically? Where is coach Davis now-thoguht he left on good terms?

Pine Prairie is open via their school Facebook page. What schools consolidated to make Pine Prairie a 3A school? Wasnt a consolidation. Chataignier and Vidrine closed and the kids had to go somewhere. Thats why Mamou and Pine Prairie went from 1A to 3A in 15 years. But also the fact the kids dont just come from Pine Prairie, also come from Turkey Creek and Bayou Chicot and some other places including Ville Platte

Schools that start football or are made of schools that never had football don’t seem to be very successful.

What happened here? What does he coach defense or offense, like what is his specialty.........? I thought he came from E.D.White He was not well liked down the bayou. He wasn't on speaking terms with the AD and wasn't popular with the kids they were down to only 25-30 players.

the 1970s aren’t coming back... Coach O himself would have trouble winning at South Lafourche now Coach O would have trouble winning championships at SL these days, but he'd have no trouble winning a ton of games and making playoff runs especially in 4A. The South Lafourche area has talent but a bunch of them are playing for Curtis, Vandy and EDW.

Abbeville has hired Gueydan HC Roderick Moy to the same position. Moy was 18-15 in three seasons at Gueydan with three playoff appearances and two trips to the second round.

Vidalia interim HC Rob Faircloth will not be retained as head coach. The former Vidalia DC took over as interim HC for Vidalia in July after his uncle, legendary coach Dee Faircloth, had to resign due to LHSAA by-laws stating that retired coaches could not serve as a head coach in football or basketball. The Vikings went 3-8 in 2019 under the younger Faircloth.

Coy Brotherton at Parkway was a good hire. I was hoping some new blood from out of the area would come in to rejuvenate things but he is the best young coach in SBC. I hope losing him doesn’t hurt Capt Shreve

Where is WSHS? Is there any update on the Winnfield situation, or was the possibility of change just rumor?

Will this change be a voluntary move or is it being orchestrated in the background? If this is the case, I would be shocked due to the individuals involved.

Will this change be a voluntary move or is it being orchestrated in the background? If this is the case, I would be shocked due to the individuals involved. Based off your last statement you obviously know how sticky the situation is. I would think everyone would prefer the move to be voluntary but if it isn't, i have the feeling the move will be forced. Winnfield football has a strong long proud tradition. The last several years have been some of the worst in the history of the program. The powers that be in the town can see we aren't and haven't been headed in the right direction. Three years has been long enough to see the situation isn't working out. As for what is going on in the background, I'm not entirely sure. But a 7-24 record over the last three years is out front and center for everyone to see. That would be the worst winning percentage for a coach in the 100 year plus history of Winnfeild football who was allowed to coach longer than one year.

You should be able to continue being a head coach if you’ve retired after putting a certain number of years in teaching
