A lot of cluelessness in this thread. A simple search of the CPSB job openings page will reveal that the DeQuincy job has yet to be opened. So, if one knew how the job world works, one would know there can be no applicants until the job is actually opened by the parish. But hey, A for effort. I went to say the same thing yesterday, it only became public knowledge to the players on Friday. Only people that would know about the job opening are the family and friends of the players and coaches. It will not be posted on CPSB probably until next week and then there will not be a decision most likely until after the new year unless the principal has someone in mind already. If you honestly think that those friends and family aren’t gonna tell anyone then that’s foolish.. come on now it’s DeQuincy.. everyone knows what happens within a short time frame in that town.

I never said that they weren't going to tell anyone that is why it says friends and family of the players and coaches (that reaches a lot of people).... but not every coach in the state or parish would have known about the opening until a official word from a trusted news source or parish website says that there is an opening. So it's foolish to say that 3-4 people have already applied for the job.

So you say. All I can say is he is 100000000000’s times better than the old OC and his sidekick. Inherit a semifinal team and spend the next five years running the program in the ground. No football playing nor coaching experience seemingly bent on destroying the program. But that’s just my opinion If this is true I wouldn’t be surprised if the OL coach gets the HC. He is one of Pender’s guys and coached there in the past. I would think the community would stand behind him more then the staff before Bankston. Why did that staff get such a long leash? Politics. Need to look at who the old OC who is now running the freshman team (which is another ridiculous situation) is related too. Goes higher up than the schools admin. Just a terrible situation that we've been stuck in over the last several years after we had a really good OC and DC leave in 2013. Think Pyles did the best he could after those guys left in 2013 but he was left without any help and his staff the last couple of years he was head coach did a good job of taking a really good program and slowly destroying it.

If this is true I wouldn’t be surprised if the OL coach gets the HC. He is one of Pender’s guys and coached there in the past. I would think the community would stand behind him more then the staff before Bankston. Why did that staff get such a long leash? The couple of folks I talk to from Winnfield are pretty sure that the OL coach was brought back this year to take the Head Coach spot eventually. Not sure its a good move considering the only head coach experience he has is one year at Ruston Jr High but hes got probably 20 years or more of experience and is liked I think. If Bankston steps aside its going to be a dogfight between the OL coach, Tharpe and the DC for that job. They all think it should be theirs. Whoever the head coach is next year will be dealing with an empty pantry. They are graduating a ton of starters. They only have about 5 starters coming back next year and I've been told that they haven't done a very good job of building depth through their Freshman and JV programs. Not sure they are ever getting back to being a winning program. It's a shame considering how good they were a while back. I have heard same thing regarding the OL coach and I think that's where we eventually get too. Just don't think it will be this year. I could see it being an issue between him and DC over the job but i honestly don't think Tommy has any interest in head coaching anymore (at least not at Winnfield). I think our DC has done a great job and would hope however it plays out, that he decides to stay. you are spot on with what any coach will be facing over the next couple of years. We will have a few starters back (couple of those played both ways this year) but the remainder of the team will have to be filled with sopres. It could quite possibly be worse over the next couple years than what its been these last 5 (and that's bad). Why? We typically have around 25-30 incoming freshman every year from a very good middle school program with an excellent coach. Normally we retain around 20 of those kids through their senior year. From 2014-2018 the OC for varsity and his sidekick bascically ran the freshman/ JV team. During that time frame the kids were treated like garbage. Weren't viewed as important to the program. They want to skip practice-- fine by them. Want to skip workouts-- fine by them. No need for them to practice. Last year there was no need to even field a freshman/ JV team. Guess in their mind they could just throw them on the field once they were upperclassmen and they would be ready. So next year of the 35 kids we had move over to the high school four years ago-- we will have around 12 seniors. Of the 32 that moved over three years ago-- we will have around 6 juniors. To make matters even worse-- Tommy takes over as OC this year. Did a great job in my opinion. Took an offense that averaged around 11 ppg last year and increased that to around 30 ppg (with less talent). But what do we do with the old OC and his sidekick??? Put them over the freshman/ JV program.... and what have those 30 kids been doing since the trainwreck of a freshman season was over two months ago. Nothing. Not working out. Not practicing.

Pyles didn't have the pull to make the changes, neither does Bankston. We had enough talent on last years team to make a legitimate run (won two games, didn't make playoffs). Had enough talent this year to win 6-7 games, maybe win a playoff game or two depending on seeding (won four, lost first round). Thing is, both of those years we had around 20 seniors. Both classes entered the high school when Pyles was still there. Next years seniors will be the first class Bankston has had the entire four years. Only 12 of them left right now.

Your jr and sr classes brought 67 football players over from the jr high and now there are only 18 of those in the program as rising jrs and srs? That explains a lot!

Rob Poole out as head coach at Lafayette High Why is this not an attractive job? I would think it would be a school that someone could build a winning culture at.

Their home field is complete with all the required set up for a track and field program. Track looks new too! But the HS is comprehensive with 1950+ enrollment. Lafayette is growing unlike Houma, Thib and whatever..........

Rob Poole out as head coach at Lafayette High Why is this not an attractive job? I would think it would be a school that someone could build a winning culture at. Lafayette High is the Arts Academy. Football players were already attending other schools in the parish. Now they open Southside where they allow anybody and everybody to enroll. Most schools build through their middle school programs but I honestly couldn’t tell you which school feed into Lafayette High. Lafayette parish is a whole different world.
