LCA finished their week 4-0 with 4 shutouts.
Beat Westgate 15-0 Beat Crowley 4-0 Beat Comeaux 5-0 Beat Livonia 14-0
Im interested to see how things shake out once they begin to face better competition. All 4 starting pitchers have been really impressive, as has the defense.

Kinder went 2-3 this week while using 7 different pitchers. So far they've had trouble scoring runs.
DeRidder W 6-3: 10 hits and pitchers combined for 12 K
Jennings W 3-0: CG 5 hitter with 11 K
Sam Houston L 13-3: Pitchers walked 11 batters and threw 6 wild pitches. Defense had 4 errors.
St. Edmund L 8-5: Defense had 3 errors and pitchers gave up 4 unearned runs.
Iota L 7-2: Game went 8 innings. Tied 2-2 after 7. Starting P threw 94 before being pulled after 7th.
They're gonna take their lumps early on but will contend for the district championship and make a run at Sulphur.

Take your lumps early and be battled tested. Most of the teams Kinder plays in non-district are head and shoulders above what the competition in the 2A playoffs will be. Sets them up for success. Kinder isn’t usually a power rating darling and doesn’t have the best record but their isn’t a team more prepared and battle-tested than them come playoff time. They run 2A baseball.

Fisher, Springfield, Red River, and Delhi Charter all had good weeks. Good to see some different names doing well in 2a public. Will these teams be able to keep it up all year?

LCA baseball moves to 5-0 tonight with their 5th consecutive shutout (4 of the games allowing just a single hit) beating Plaquemine 10-0
Senior ace Miles Justin allowed one hit, one walk and struck out 11 over 6 innings. Justin has had double digit strikeouts and allowed just one hit in both of his starts this season.

They haven’t played anyone with a pulse. I'm not saying Red River is good and they definitely haven't played anyone yet, but they've had 4 shutouts in five games. Outscored their opponents 59-1. Point is they are definitely better than they've been ... maybe ever. The Red River teams i've watched over the last ten years couldn't hold a tee ball team scoreless.

Red River baseball is bad. Nothing is gained by playing and beating bad baseball teams.

Probably need to shut up and let the season play out. Majority of people are wrong about everything on these forums. Just fun to read up on people on high horses.

Red River baseball is bad. Nothing is gained by playing and beating bad baseball teams. Not really the argument I'm trying to make. Historically Red River is awful. Historically they schedule other awful teams to get a few wins on their resume. Bad teams want Red River on their schedule. Good teams don't. I haven't seen them play this year so I cant really determine how much better they have gotten. All I'm saying is the fact they have strung five wins together in a row and only allowed one run over five games leads me to believe they have gotten much better than years past when none of their players could hit and their pitchers threw one pitch across the plate every 20 pitches.

Red River baseball is bad. Nothing is gained by playing and beating bad baseball teams. For sh_ts and gigs I just looked at Red River's schedule. Compared to years past where the schedule was 15 games total playing the same two or three crappy teams prior to district play, they have 32 games on the schedule including matchups with West Ouachita, Ruston, Minden, Haughton, Loyola, Sterlington etc... It's obvious there is a real push in Red River for the team to get better. Hired a good coach two years ago, top of the line new facilities, and they actually have a few freshmen coming in that have done the youth/travel circuit and are solid ball players. One of them being the superintendents son that's already throwing in the mid 80's as a freshmen.

Nothing wrong with being happy for kids. There's a bunch of coaches in Louisiana who would trade facilities with Red River right now and I have a feeling it's a program that will be in a good spot going forward. Programs have to establish a culture and part of that is learning to win, and I don't really care who you are playing. Let that community enjoy their success!!

Bigger classification schools but none, outside of Comeaux, will likely have much success this year. I do think they will struggle to score against decent pitching. But the defense is good and the pitching is very impressive. Not just the results, but the depth of the staff, the stuff the pitchers have shown, and especially the command, is excellent. So they will be in the game most of the time. Softball has had some attrition. I’m not sure they will be as successful as expected.

I spoke to one of the assistants after the Comeaux game and asked him about the schedule. Said they tried to play teams around the area but nobody wanted to play them or “had a full schedule”. I find it odd being that LCA baseball hasn’t done anything.....yet

Schools have certain teams that they play and certain Tournaments they play in every year that keeps their schedules filled and some teams are in bigger districts. They're going to the Trey Altick Classic this weekend. That's a good thing for them as it will get their program good exposure to other schools and could help them with scheduling in the future.

Maybe the reputation of other sports at the school has made it harder for baseball as well.

Maybe the reputation of other sports at the school has made it harder for baseball as well. I honestly don't think that had an effect. Lot of good ball gets played all over the state from class C to 5a. Most baseball coaches dedicated to building and maintaining a good program will play anybody anywhere as long as financially feasible. Not like the football where a public wont play a private or vice versa in fear of looking bad.
