Maybe the reputation of other sports at the school has made it harder for baseball as well. That's not the case with baseball. Coaches just have their schedules made with mostly the same teams and tournaments. For our schedule, you can pretty much predict every year we will play: Tournaments St Martinville or Live Oak (This year ESA due to travel restrictions) Hanson (This year switched to Vandebilt Catholic tournament) Central Catholic AES Non-District Breaux Bridge Cecilia North Vermilion Notre Dame or Teurlings (Tough game towards end of season) Rayne (Always last non-district game)

I know multiple coaches where this is the case, trust me.

Maybe the reputation of other sports at the school has made it harder for baseball as well. Not even close. It's because it's a new program and they're not well known enough. The established programs have certain teams and tournaments that they want to play in every year and they do not like to deviate from that. They should be very happy about getting an invite to the Altick Classic. It's gonna help their program in the long run.

They played in it last year and had a good showing, so hopefully they’ll be able to continue going.

Their schedule is very weak but impressive numbers nonetheless. We'll see what they got when they play Notre Dame. I think their on the rise in the coming years. They're committed to the program. Softball too. Agree. Bigger classification schools but none, outside of Comeaux, will likely have much success this year. I do think they will struggle to score against decent pitching. But the defense is good and the pitching is very impressive. Not just the results, but the depth of the staff, the stuff the pitchers have shown, and especially the command, is excellent. So they will be in the game most of the time. Softball has had some attrition. I’m not sure they will be as successful as expected. Well it was a big win for LCA tonight against and really good opponent in Oak Grove. 9 hits against 3 really good arms. Maybe they are finding their groove and showing they can beat a quality team

Red River with another shutout tonight. Can they make a run at Many and Winnfield in district? May be a new baseball threat in North LA

We are struggling to put a complete game together. Hoping we can find a groove sometime in the next few weeks. Like a lot of teams out there, this covid crap has slowed down the development of all these young kids we have starting.

Well the fact your playing those teams says where their program is at. I'm glad they are revamping their baseball program but they have a long way to go.

Same two or three crappy teams three or four games a piece before district. Maybe play 15 games total all year. Red River still has the typical bad teams at the front of their schedule, but they have some seriously tough competition coming up and they have over 30 games on their schedule. They will get handled easily by those teams but no one can deny the effort to improve is there.

I love simple minded people.

DeQuincy continues to struggle hitting the ball.. defensively we are still doing great but defense ain’t gonna score runs.. We didn’t hit the ball better on Wednesday against Pine Prairie with 6 hits I believe but we still have work to do..
So far.. Merryville W 12-0 Welsh W 8-0 Eunice L 0-6 Buckeye L 3-12 Westlake W 3-2 Pine Prairie W 7-0 Iowa L 0-5
We have a gauntlet of a week(end) coming up.. Tomorrow vs Lutcher Tuesday at South Beauregard Next Friday vs Northwood-Shreveport Next Saturday vs Anacoco and Natchitoches Central..

We've finally started coming around with our 1-6 in the lineup. 7-9 still struggling badly. Our biggest problem has been defense, mainly in the outfield. Routine fly balls have cost us at least two games already. We are still shuffling kids around a good bit but hoping we can get something solidified over the next couple of weeks and go from there. We don't have a burner on the mound this year but we've had four solid outings in a row from our starters. Defense has got to step up and help them out.

Red River has a very similar schedule to when the guy coached at Summerfield. He schedules for power points. Teams he knows are almost guaranteed wins and teams he knows will beat the 15-0 but be worth 30-35 points for losing. Red River seems to be improved, but those teams weren’t scheduled because they see Red River as a good game.

The fact that you say that like its a common deal at Red River lets me know the program is getting turned around quickly.

Small sample size, but had obviously improved from the previous seasons.

Don't say that in front of Many they had the best football team ever in Louisiana, the basketball team was supposed to win state but got beat by a nobody, the baseball and softball team could win the world series, the ping pong team beat Forrest Gump and I heard the youth hockey team annihilated the mighty ducks.
