Winnfield lost a lot. Shouldn’t be bad, but shouldn’t be a contender either.

Rosepine will be a top 3 team. French Settlement will be solid.

Rosepine looks really strong this year. Doyle will also be a good one. I think there will be a few surprises this year come playoff time.

Wouldn't call them a perennial power. It's gonna be a mystery til about a month into the season, depending on how many games are canceled.

Winnfield lost 6 starters and will be rebuilding with only two senior starters returning. Probably going to be a tough year. That being said, we got three solid years out of those guys and most likely would have been at least a quarter final team again last year. I wouldn't call us a perennial power either (like Kinder or Loreauville) but the last few years we definitely could have played with any 2a team at least for a game or so. If someone going to make a list of the top 4-8 teams returning, I would think Winnfield would make it based off the last few seasons.

It looks like Kinder lost alot of Srs too. Maybe 10 or 11. Interesting to see how that effects them. As for Winnfield, I thought they were gonna have a good run last year that sr group was pretty good as Soph. What about Avoyelles Charter and Bunkie? Bunkie wasnt looking too bad at beginning of last year.

Perennial Powers:
Kinder- Defending Champ. State Tournament 6 of last 7 years. 20 straight playoffs. Loreauville - 2018 Champ. Consistently makes a deep run Lakeside - Good tradition. Multiple State Tournament appearances. Has at least 1 State Title. Doyle - Multiple deep runs and State Tournament appearances. 2019 Runner-up.
Next in line:
DeQuincy - Good tradition. Consistent playoff team before split. Multiple deep playoff runs. 2017 #2 seed. Rosepine - Good tradition. Consistent playoff team before split. Multiple deep runs, 2017 Semi-Finals. Welsh - Coming off back 2 back Semi-Finals appearances. 2018 Runner-up. Many - Coming off 3 straight Quarterfinal appearances Winnfield - Coming off back to back Quarterfinal appearances. Spent time in 3A over the years.
Up and coming:
French Settlement - 2019 Quarterfinals. Playoff wins in 2018 & 2017 Avoyelles Public Charter - 2019 Quarterfinals. Still a new program. I think. Delhi Charter - Pushed Kinder & Many in 2018 & 2019 Regionals. 2017 1A Semi-Finals. Kentwood - 2019 1A Runner-up. 2018.1A Semi-Finals. Program is only 3 or 4 years old.

Nice list. Not sure how Kentwood will be in 2a. Wasnt impressed when I watched them play Oberlin and they lost Trey Palmer. Bunkie could be added to up and coming. I think Welsh was young last year. I forgot about Lakeside they have good coaching.

I believe Doyle will be back in Sulphur this year they only lost one person from last years team and most of the starters in their 2019 runner up season were 10th graders, which are now all seniors.

Kinder, Doyle, and Loreauville will be well tested come playoff time. All 3 teams are in touch districts. By that logic so will Rosepine, DeQuincy, and French Settlement. Division III should be about the same as its been except keep an eye on Lafayette Christian. They've been putting money into their baseball and softball programs.

Dequincy and French Settlement play in season. Should be a good measuring stick for both teams.

Their catcher transferred from Barbe, his last name is Pousson so I’m assuming he has family in and around Kinder because there are a lot of Pousson’s around that neck of the woods, idk if they all kin though.

Scrimmage finals DeQuincy 3, DeRidder 3 South Beauregard 4, Kinder 2
DQ looked sharp for the most part, bats were a little slow but that’s expected this early in the season, defense played exceptionally well, had a couple errors but once again it’s early.

Kinder lost to South Beau and St. Louis in their scrimmages. They might be down this year. Looked at their schedule and they might be winless to start district. Rosepine and Dequincy will be fighting for top dog of that district.

South Beauregard has been really good the last few years and will be again. Kinder top 2 pitchers didn't throw against St. Louis. Kinder should win district and make a deep playoff run again.

Kinder has had a tough time with Rosepine the last 6 years only time Kinder has beat them is when Rosepine was without their basketball players. Rosepine is stronger than it has been in a while and Kinder lost alot of pop in the lineup. From what I've heard Dequincy also looked better than Kinder at their scrimmage against Deridder. I'll give Kinder 4-6 wins before district. I haven't really seen who all they play in their tournaments though.

All will be different teams when it matters.

Ehh I’m pretty sure Rosepine had all their players when Kinder beat them otherwise Rosepine would be in the state tournament every year. DQ, Kinder, and Rosepine are all the same at this point until one beats the other, it’s early!

Brady rotated some guys in the field early on in the scrimmage and we looked solid, made a couple errors but other than that we looked good, I know it’s early but our defense looks stout! Should be a great season!

DeQuincy 10, Oberlin 1
DQ was without a couple varsity players today due to a basketball game against Vinton, our bats were a little warmer today! Defense played great!
Hall of Fame Game vs Sulphur this Monday weather permitting!!
