We could welcome Buckeye to 2-4A. Looks like Peabody will remain at 3A New District Buckeye Grant Tioga Leesville DeRidder May have to add Franklin parish, Or Sam Houston to make it work correctly. What do yall think? If the district with buckeye, Tioga, grant, Leesville, and deridder happens then I saw Rayne and deridder head east with Carencro, Opelousas, and the others, but if it doesn't happen you only have four teams left in that lake Charles district who would they add with Deridder,Leesville,Lagrange, and Rayne

Rummel and Lutcher to 4a is interesting. Mentorship to 3a is a joke. Amite and Port Allen? Wow breaks up a fine district

Looks like 2-4A will remain the same. Except the possible addition of Buckeye. If Peabody moves back up to 4A then they will recreate that Alexandria district with Peabody, Buckeye, Tioga, Leesville, DeRidder, and Grant If you take Tioga and Grant out of that Monroe district. Who will they replace those teams with? Especially with West Quachita moving up to 5A. If you leave DeRidder, Leesville, LaGrange, and Rayne together. Who will they add to that district? Just wondering.....

Right now it looks like West Ouachita will remain 4A. They could always try to move Minden over.

New Enrollment numbers for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 School years. I have 294 teams listed, so i think i left someone off. Find it and i'll update. Now obviously it's not perfect but it's something to look at until they update. And in reality this will be very close! only teams around the classification splits will change and a team that updates their number and moves in classification.
I have heard of as many as 4 new schools entering the LHSAA so that would bump some schools up, but I think and I think that some are already listed.8.7.4 Schools Competing in Football: 1. Football schools shall be divided into five equal or nearly equal classes. 2. Counting to achieve equal fifths shall begin with the lowest and end with the highest football school enrollment. 3. Schools with equal enrollment that form the dividing line in a classification shall play in the lower classification.www.14-0productions.com for the History of Louisiana High School Sports... 5A (58 Schools)2383 Jesuit 2357 Lafayette 2298 Dutchtown 2268 Catholic - It's the difference between West Ouachita being 4A or 5A is the reason I ask. By rule, the way I read it. you divide classes equally filling in from the bottom to top on extra. (which would mean 60, 59, 59, 59, 59) SO 60 is 1A. but 2A has a tie at the top. by rule they both stay in 2A, so that number goes from 59 to 60 in 2A. I WAS TOLD they slid down after that for 59 in 3A and 4A and then only 58 left for 5A. But i agree with what you say. Rules are always to complicated and vague as usual. I have also heard that Evil Forces are trying to change it so the count starts from the top this year, which would change Amite and WO and many more. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE RULE YOU ASK, only how it was explained to me.

Crescent City has been dropped from list. that puts 59 per class BUT the AMite and Cohen Tie puts 60 in 2A. I THINK that puts 59 in 3A and 4A and 58 in 5A but I'm not sure. It could leave the 59 in 5A and 4A and only 58 in 3A. BIG DEAL for West Ouachita and Loranger.

How much is it going change once the teams decide to play up like Curtis and Evangel? Whats the date to report those teams that want to play up?

Does it bother anyone else that there is a large gap between the top of the 5A and the bottom of 5A. At the top, Lafayette has 2455 and on the bottom Woodlawn BR has 1157. That is a difference of 1298. That is the size of a 5A school difference. Don't get me wrong, any team can win on any given day; but this is a obvious advantage for the schools at the top of the classification. Should not be bothersome. Lafayette High the largest high school in the state, is proof that numbers do not equate to football success. This year Lafayette High enrollment is down to about 1600 students as the parish has moved the Musical school of choice to Comeaux and rezoned the entire parish. Lafayette High football is about as punchless as LSU on a a Saturday night in Troy ALABAMA. Some stats: 0-5 total points scored 78 Total points allowed 200 Avg PPG 15.6 AVg PAPG 40

Year in and year out the larger 5a schools are making deep runs in the playoffs. And not just in football. See it in baseball every year as well. No matter how you try to spin it, a school having 800-1000 more students always has an advantage just bc of sheer numbers. Sure, there are a few exceptions. But they're just that, exceptions. There is a larger gap in just 5A than there is from the smallest school in the state to the largest 4A. Think about that.

Maybe you'd like 0-400 to be 1A, 400-800 for 2A, 800-1200 for 3A, 1200-1600 for 4A, and over 1600 to be 5A?

The latest metro/ rural proposal addresses these gaps in a very good manor. No emphasis on equal size classes/ divisions but rather on keeping simalar size schools together. The mentality of every class has to have the same number of schools needs to go.

isn't it next year's enrollment numbers that determine redistricting?

so maybe we should have fewer 5A schools, and spread the rest among the other 4 classes? 5A and 1A have the largest gaps obviously because you have to start and end with numbers. The latest metro/ rural proposal addresses these gaps in a very good manor. No emphasis on equal size classes/ divisions but rather on keeping simalar size schools together. The mentality of every class has to have the same number of schools needs to go. In my opinion, the 6A proposal had the best chance at evening out the classifications. But the larger 5A schools will never go for that.

I don't like 1A schools bragging they made the playoffs when all 32 make it, as opposed to 32 out of 50 in the larger non select classes

Sam Houston is up this year to 1235 Barbe still sends y'all the culls? lol, yes true. Barbe gets all the kids in the city and outskirts. They have 400 out of zone that attend BHS. Sulphur has 300 from LC that go there, Sam Houston has about 150 from LC proper. We get the culls. #Select vs #NonSelect #Barbe vs #SHHS
