Should not be bothersome. Lafayette High the largest high school in the state, is proof that numbers do not equate to football success. This year Lafayette High enrollment is down to about 1600 students as the parish has moved the Musical school of choice to Comeaux and rezoned the entire parish. Lafayette High football is about as punchless as LSU on a a Saturday night in Troy ALABAMA. Some stats: 0-5 total points scored 78 Total points allowed 200 Avg PPG 15.6 AVg PAPG 40 It's a huge advantage. Just because one large school isn't successful in football proves nothing. Year in and year out the larger 5a schools are making deep runs in the playoffs. And not just in football. See it in baseball every year as well. No matter how you try to spin it, a school having 800-1000 more students always has an advantage just bc of sheer numbers. Sure, there are a few exceptions. But they're just that, exceptions. There is a larger gap in just 5A than there is from the smallest school in the state to the largest 4A. Think about that. 2357 Lafayette 2298 Dutchtown 2199 West Monroe 2198 Ehret, John 2186 Byrd, C.E. 2141 Denham Springs 2060 Sulphur 2042 Comeaux 1997 Barbe 1978 St. Amant 10 largest Schools in LA, non-select, last year only one made the semifinals or finals. W. Monroe. Of this group only one other made it to the QTR Finals, St. Amant. Tossed out by W. Monroe. Year before only one made it to QTRS John Ehret. Year before that, only two Byrd and W. Monroe made it pass to or pass the QTRS. i would submit that your argument is flawed based on the empirical evidence.

Those numbers are wrong - they are last years numbers. the lafayette area was rezoned and many went to new Southside. I promise you - THOSE NUMBERS ARE WRONG! This is 2017 not 2016. The 2016 numbers were used for used fro new districts in 2017, and 2018 school years but enrollments for THIS year are vastl different. Comeaux, Lafayette, Acadiana are all down becuase of new HS and new re zoning.

Why do you foresee the 1a top number going up to 258? That's much higher than it's ever been. Why is that happening? All this 7th and 8th grade stuff has it all out of whack. It's making (some)schools much larger. Without it the numbers would be much lower. I hear there will be new small schools added which will bump the cutoffs up some. How many of those kids at the new school are football players?
