If 3 teams are leaving 2-5A, moving to 1-5A, who will be in 2-5A? What I'm hearing is Benton, Airline, Haughton, and Parkway will move to 2-5A. ASH, NC, and Pineville will move to 1-5A. Tioga might be in that mix too. Gonna a close call whether they move to 5A or not.

Could Ouachita drop down to 4A moving West Monroe and Ruston to a 2-5A district with Benton, Airline, Haughton, Parkway, Ruston, and West Monroe? Possibly add Ouachita if they stay 5A. That would be a nice little district. Be pretty competitive. It will be very close for ouachita to stay or drop down . What number did they turn in?

When do we think that the numbers that was turned in will magically appear on here. I am interested to see if there will be any change to 8 5A.

I wouldn't think that puts them anywhere near the 5A bubble.

I wouldn't think that puts them anywhere near the 5A bubble. Last enrollment numbers had them at 999 students and the school is growing so it would make sense that they would be at least around 1,000 students if not a little more. Would put them in the ballpark

The two schools that are growing in Rapides Parish are Pineville and ASH. ASH took a huge jump this year with their largest freshman class in history, I was told.

Most of the coaches already know where they fall and started working on scheduling.

Southside gives the Lafayette metro area 3 5A schools basically without the Northside. Wow!

For those who don't want to read the article, here are the highlights
Lafayette Christian going to 2A. Rumors say they could play up to 3A or 4A but it is unlikely
Comeaux is heading towards being 4A but will stay in 5A this cycle
Southside will in fact be a 5A school
LaGrange will have 4A enrollment but they may or may not play up to 5A again
Northside and St. Martinville heading down to 3A
Eunice, Jennings, and North Vermilion heading up to 4A
Rayne will stay in 4A but will be one of the smallest schools in that class
Carencro will stay in 4A but will be one of the biggest schools in that class

Interesting that they will use a mileage formula for districts, could change alot of districts up for better or worse.

Is this the same computer software thing that was used in Texas? Not sure, how does it work there? Basically they used a computer software to calculate the mileage in regard to districting and placement. Became increasingly difficult because of the San Angelo area think they have to travel 2-3 hours for district games in all sports

Basically they used a computer software to calculate the mileage in regard to districting and placement. Became increasingly difficult because of the San Angelo area think they have to travel 2-3 hours for district games in all sports So, for example, 2aa teams that are closest in mileage to each other would form a district? If this is the case, i could see where the mileage would be an advantage or a curse depending on like sized schools. So this would most likely put smaller lake charles schools playing( if there are enough) and lafayette schools playing, and schools in between going wherever is closest. Sound right?

Yes I believe you are on the right track. Issue as you said becomes location of neighboring schools depending on class. Also said software doesn’t take other things into account. Rare neutral site game, rivalries etc

Looks like North Vermillion will be add to STM and Teurlings district.
St. Martinville will likely take North Vermilion’s spot in the local 3A district.
LCA is going to play in 2A for the next to years and will likely be placed in Catholic High’s District. That will force ND to remain in the district they are currently in because LCA would make the 8th te in that district.

Word is that 5-3A will be a 6 team district next year. Also heard that Northwest was trying to send kids back to Opelousas to lower their numbers to stay 3A.

So we really will not here anything official until November 7th? Nothing official, no. But usually the list of enrollment number will get out before the first meeting, giving us all a couple of weeks to speculate on where the cutoffs will be and what the possible new districts will look like.
