One of the first thing that could be put in place is a audit of the successful programs, but again that would be another rule for LHSAA to enforce.

I stand by what I've said from the very start of this: Any "advantage" private schools have has been created by the school boards. Not the LHSAA and not private schools. School boards decide where they will and won't take kids from. I assume what you mean by this is that if the Jefferson/Orleans/Plaquemines/St Tammany/St Charles/Etc Parish school boards combined to allow students to go to any school in the New Orleans metro area then the Private schools wouldn't have an advantage?? How would this work exactly? And as a school board, why would they ever approve something like this? Even within their own Parish it wouldn't work. No, what I mean is that where schools draw students from is not decided by the LHSAA and it's not a football problem. It's been made into a football problem (a sports problem) because people get their panties twisted for a variety of reasons. My thing is this: A kid living in Caddo parish cannot attend a public school in Bossier parish. That's not because the LHSAA said no. That's because Bossier school board said no. The LHSAA shouldn't be involved at all except to say that if you're not following the rules of your school then you cannot participate. If the LHSAA is going to involve themselves in who gets to go where, they're doing a piss poor job of it because that situation could have been resolved before now.

a 32 team playoff bracket. The ability to play whomever makes the 32 team cut for a championship. If it's a simple as you say, then there should be no problem and we can do away with the split. We can rehash the whole discussion from the top if you want. I stand by what I've said from the very start of this: Any "advantage" private schools have has been created by the school boards. Not the LHSAA and not private schools. School boards decide where they will and won't take kids from. Does not having a 32 bracket hurt your school and also if you see I said go to 16 team brackets. But does not matter the split is here to stay and schools break away and make there on association. then so be it. We will still play football on friday nights, play two basketball, baseball and softball games per week with a few tournaments. Nothing changes. Yes. the split is here and it's not going to change. The pro split side has no desire to fix anything or come to any sort of agreement. All you people want is a split. So again, why spend time on a thread where people are discussing the issue of a new league forming? I believe you know that the outcome of a lot of schools ditching the LHSAA won't be all wonderful and nice. As it stands, the LHSAA gets the benefit of money from both sides. The public schools get the benefit of an organization that only represents them, but takes money from the private schools (while crapping on them). Which is why I believe the private schools and anyone else NOT happy with the LHSAA should ditch them and go with a new league.

They can and will take kids who pay the tuition (or at least have it paid or deferred) and meet whatever entrance requirements they may have. Public schools, in almost all cases, take the kids from a designated zone and wont allow others outside of that zone addmittance. Bussing, deseg orders, MFP funding and any number of other situations cause this line to be drawn. THATS THE ISSUE!!!!!! Apples and Oranges. NO DISCUSSION OR SILLY FORMULA WILL EVER SOLVE THIS DILEMEA. Round hole, square peg. Its never gonna work. Hence the reason that at present, at least 30 other state are going through the same dilema!

The LHSAA is not there to correct school board problems. I mean, if that's the function of the LHSAA, then they need to go on and fix it to where every school board has the exact same attendance rules. Because as it stands, you have problems with your league. Unfair advantage problems. Some school boards have magnet schools. That's not fair to everyone one else. Some school boards allow kids to go to any school in the parish. That's not fair to everyone else. Getting rid of the private schools was only the tip of the iceberg. If it was indeed about making it fair. Which we all know that it wasn't. This was "us vs. them".

I agree. But the pro split side wants the LHSAA to fix a problem that is NOT a sports problem. It's an attendance zone problem. Sports happens to suffer from this problem. The problem still exists because the kid next door to me (in Caddo parish) wants to go to Airline (Bossier parish).

I moved out of the city because I don't believe the mayor of Shreveport gives a rip. the difference is that we're talking about kids, school, and sports. You only want it to be fair when that involves segregating the private schools for playoffs and championships. You're not interesting in fair when they're playing for district. or even for non-district. That's okay. But when it comes to a championship, then it suddenly has to change. Meanwhile, magnet schools, who have selective enrollment, are playing on the non-select side of things. Because they're select, but not as select as a private school. so when a private school starts following the exact same rules as a magnet school for enrollment, will that private school get to play for a non-select championship like the magnet schools? No. they wont.

The truth is very simple. Some people cheat, period. They understand the spirit of the rules, and blatantly break them. We, me, you, do it most everytime we drive. We dont think we are hurting anyone, but we fudge a little on the speed limit. Its in most folks human nature. When it comes to HS athletic, its much the same. Some, most, cheat to some degree. The difference is the select schools ability to deny enrollment and control the everyday culture of their schools which GREATLY influences test scores, hallway and class room discipline, etc...... is a HUGE advantage. Hence, we split. Now, the kids in the Louisiana Legislature are trying to force the hand of the non select schools. They may be successful. Its unlikely, but possible. If they are, there is one, simple, fact, they are forgetting. You cant FORCE anyone to play anyone. You will see some schools simply refuse to play. They will play a fine, and move on. If this happens enough, are we any better off? You cant legislate morality, sexuality, or a parents will with their children. The La. Legislature better be careful what they meddle with, or wish for. They may just get it. I already know of some head football coaches that refuse to schedule any private schools. Whether it is right or wrong that is the facts and what people need to understand there are bigger issues that need to be fixed if they ever want the playoffs system to come back together. What is bad, perception is 100% of reality and until this can be change nothing will change. The legislatures cannot force any group to get along. We can argue each side but until the realy issues (perception) are sovled LHSAA will not move forward. Absolutely true. Lafayette High refuses to play STM in foortball, because the got skull drug every year. Even thought Acadiana was running up greater scores against them, she had a fit when STM moved up to 5A and was placed in that district. Needless to say STM Comeaux and Acadiana ended up in the Lake Charles district and Lafayette High in the New Iberia District for a couple of years. They still will not play in football.

I will go even smaller, if the mayor you vote for does not win the election you need to move towns because you will not be represented? <<the mayor you vote for does not win the election you need to move towns because you will not be represented?>> Once again I will say it: This is different because the vote is to separate and penalize an entire CLASS of schools that share a superficial characteristic that can very clearly be demonstrated to not automatically cause success. A better example would be that a mayor was elected who wouldn't let ANY of a certain race/religion of people (private schools) in the town use the community facilities along with the other townspeople, despite that they had been paying taxes (dues) to support those facilities all along, because SOME of those certain people have achieved too much success. Never mind that all of them have not, and that many of the "acceptable" townspeople have had similar success. And the situation can never be reversed by vote because that group has too few votes to win now that the town has essentially been changed from a collection of individuals into 'blocks'. Guess what-- any member of that excluded group would certainly consider leaving.

But neither side is being denied anything. They both can play for a State Championship. One side does have fewer playoff games which I can see as a issue and all playoffs bracket should only be 16 teams brackets. Just do not see the issue. Schools are broke down by classification and they can play each during the regular season but not playoffs and there was no issue with that. So playoff are broken down select/non select which allows teams to play games in playoff, advance when you win and if you win them all you are a state champion. But because you cannot play a certain group it makes it all bad. So let's just do away with select/non select, classifications and then have the top 32 teams make the playoffs and have one bracket. Problem solved.

NO DISCUSSION OR SILLY FORMULA WILL EVER SOLVE THIS DILEMEA. Round hole, square peg. Its never gonna work. Hence the reason that at present, at least 30 other state are going through the same dilema! But that does not make it an unfair advantage. It makes it a fact of life that your school board is the one restricting you from accepting kids. And to say that kids only go to their zoned public school is bogus. I know of kids that lived in Broussard and attended Breaux Bridge high. There was a kid (basketball stud) who lived one block from St. Martinville Sr. High and went to Northside. It all in who your principal and superintendent are willing to allow in the school. With the exception of the few remaining desegregation schools most parishes allow cross town transfers and some will do what ever benefits the child. Which is a key educational building block. So you are blaming private schools for not being bound by school board rules and have created a punitive measure to assuage your feelings. If you were not a state champion competitor before the split you will not be one after the split. So who will you blame next for your failures?

I guess I just can't comment on this board anymore because of the "warnings" and such.
If PG language hurts people's feelings, they're probably having a hard time with life and I should be the least of their worries.
To whomever was butthurt over my choice of language last week, I've got nothing for you.

I argue. I change people's names to names I prefer, sometimes. But I do keep it PG. It's hard, but I do manage that much.
