I just seen this message because I actually have a life and am looking at the positive people do for the community. But first thing my nephew did attend this program and school and also did not pay anything. The program actually have a contract with centerplate at the Superdome so they work the Saints and Pelicans games which brings in a great deal of money to take care of the program’s expenses. Secondly this program is helping kids work towards degrees. If you ever went to a practice which I been to plenty of you will hear the Founder at the end of every practice reiterate how important education is and that they are student athletes not athlete students. And he keeps preaching getting degrees. Like I said when I first posted on here, the Founder is an educator and receiving a degree is his first goal. You guys honestly have to either go to one of their practices or contact him and talk to him and you will hear and see where his heart is. But I have to ask this question, why when people are doing good there’s someone always thinking negative? You asked why people keep suggesting it is a scam (for the record, I don't think I would call it a scam, but I think it may still be a bit predatory). One potential reason why people may call it a scam is the conflicting information. That is always a red flag. You have said "the founder says it is not a junior college" yet as I pointed out the players themselves are calling themselves juco products. The organization has joined a league who defines itself as a group of junior colleges, yet also has an extremely unprofessional website with no clear organizational structure or communications department. You say your nephew played without paying, - the website says you have to pay $1,500. Regarding the importance of "education", as someone else mentioned, the academic arm seems to be tracs accredited- not Sacs accredited. The list of schools where credits will be accepted can be found here tracs.org/members/ . That is a very limited spectrum of schools. Have you been around kids/athletes? I’m an educator and been around the kids at the practice last year when my nephew played. Athletes this generation have to feel important or bigger than what they are so of course they will say they are “juco products”. Once again I’ve heard this guy say plenty of times “we’re a prep program affiliated with a community college” so it’s not his fault what others are saying if he keep saying what they are. Also on the LCC’s website where does it mention a fee? I see a donate page if someone wants to. Lastly the kids who have offers credits are transferring. Once again as an educator I know how nationally and regionally accreditation works but regionally accredited schools will accept tracs credits, not every school but a lot will. The list that you pulled up don’t have schools that are accepting their credits.

This the last thing I will say on this post because I usually don’t this, I let you guys do things like this. But in a post I said earlier I asked why not go talk to the Founder and you will see what he’s about. I know last year he said there was a guy on twitter doing the same thing y’all doing on here and he reached out to the guy and told him to come to their practices, watch, and ask any questions and the he said the guy said “no thank you, I already know your program is a scam.” So instead of going sit there face to face get information and see what the program is about first hand he just wanted to go with what he “thought” the program was about or how it was ran. Why do y’all do that instead of doing like I did and go get the information?

And really my last post, what about the other similar programs? What about CMP, nothing about them? Do you know they charge $3,500 a semester right there in Lafayette? Any comments about them?

I know when they first started advertising themselves, they claimed to be the first JUCO football program in Louisiana.
I have a couple screenshots, but I do not know how or if I can post them.
All you have to do is scroll down their Twitter page to see it.
So are they a prep program or Louisiana’s first JUCO football program?
May be another reason people see red flags 🤷♂️

No clue. I had never even heard of LCCC until this thread. I am sure if CMP operates the same way, my feelings towards them would be the same. Those feelings being disappointment that there is a market for them, and I believe that they probably are not in the best interest of most of the kids involved with them, but no ill will for them for operating in that market.

And retired you’re doing exactly what everyone else is doing, you’re calling them a college or JUCO by changing their name. You keep calling them LCCC ( Louisiana Community Christian College), when their name is LCC(Louisiana Community Christian). This is one of the problems they have and why people think they are calling themselves a college. But you say no I’ll will towards CMP for what they’re doing when they ARE charging kids but you have problems with a program that doesn’t charge? Also it was my fault because CMP charges $6,500 a semester not $3,500.

I will say this, that when this thread first started, I believe the Louisiana affiliated football team was linked to the college site. That is no longer the case, and only the basketball affiliated group is. Like I have said, I don't have a problem with this particular group, I have a problem that landscape is such that all groups like this have been able to form.

If this program was doing something wrong then I would be the first one to say it and that goes for any program but when people are doing the right thing and getting a bad name for it then that’s when I try to correct it.

I am not suggesting one way or the other if the school is a JUCO, or just an adult travel football team. If you say they are the latter, I absolutely have no basis to say otherwise. I will be honest though, I think that actually makes it seem even more silly. All of these people "committing" to an adult travel ball team... football's near equivalent of a competitive men's rec basketball or softball team. Remember, you asked why people were saying "scam". I am pointing out potential reasons. These odd inconsistencies are reasons. Doesn't make it true.

Now you’re trying to only give it the two options of JUCO or adult travel team, it’s a Prep program that’s affiliated with a college. If you know how Athletics work kids coming out of high school are either a qualifier or non qualifier. If you’re a qualifier but don’t have offers you either go to a JUCO or prep program. You can leave the JUCO or prep program after one year. If you’re a non qualifier you have to receive your AA degree before being able to go play at a 4 year university. Athletes who play for LCC are both qualifiers and non qualifiers so the non qualifiers work towards their AA before moving on and most of the qualifiers do the same unless the kid and their family feel that the offer they received after the first year is what they feel they should take. So once again they are a Prep, not a JUCO, and not an adult travel team.

So once again they are a Prep, not a JUCO, and not an adult travel team. Regarding "qualifiers" -- D3 schools do not follow the NCAA academic qualification policies. They set their own eligibility. So there is no need to be a "qualifier" for those schools. (For those not terribly familiar, D3 is a completely different world than D1 and D2. D3 schools range from schools like MIT and University of Chicago to other schools which may admit anyone. NAIA qualifications are just to meet 2 of the 3 of the following : 1) Act 18 or up- SAT 970 2) GPA of 2.0 on 4.0 scale, 3) graduate in top 50% of class. Plus, for the HS graduating classes of 2021 and 2022, the NCAA is not even requiring an SAT/ACT score OR a core GPA but rather allowing for simple PASS/FAIL in the core courses. The NAIA has also loosened requirements. With respect to the kids, if you aren't a qualifier at this time, then the odds of your success at a 4 year school are going to be extremely low, and you would do better to find another path rather than one saddling you with future debt. Not all individuals are great or even capable academics, and I fully believe that the push for all to pursue that is detrimental. To go along with my central message in this thread, trying to do that just to play football is probably not a good idea, and could even be considered a bit selfish. Also, a quick google search of the HC's name and Lafayette reveals a painting / pressure washing business. No picture, so it obviously could be someone else, but the underlying point is that I doubt the HC is able to devote full time to this program. Nobody should expect him to. It isn't a full time bill paying job is it? Stands to reason any assistant coaches would not be able to either. Not quite the same as say Fork Union Military Academy (Prep school that Eddie George and Vinny Testaverde attended) or other actual prep SCHOOLS across the country I would imagine. Also not the same as PRCC or Holmes Community College. Where does LCC fit in? What exactly is the purpose of LCC's affiliation with an online college based in California? Maybe it is just semantics, but if someone put an add on facebook or twitter and formed his/her own adult travel football team (lets call them the I-10 Corridor Beerguzzlers) and 11 of the players happened to be taking full time class loads (either online or in person) through South Louisiana Community College, and another 14 were working other jobs during the day or night and taking 1 or 2 classes online through SLCC and some weren't even taking any classes but were just moving on with their life and playing a little football when possible, wouldn't that basically be the same thing as what LCC is? That is what they are isn't it? Could someone play on the LCC team but take classes at UL? Get up in the morning, go sit in an ECON 201 class at 8am, grab breakfast, go to Applied College Algebra at around 10am, hit Bio Lab from 1-3 and then drive to go practice with the LCC crew? I am just trying to point out to individuals (like the potential parent in this thread) that having been an educator for decades, having coached NCAA Div 1 football, knowing as you pointed out that the kids want to "feel bigger than what they are" it is probably in many of these recent (and some not so recent) graduates to overcome those feelings and just hang up the cleats. If their life plan is taking them to a 4 year school, go play flag football and have a blast enjoying the college experience. If their plan is different, go find a local community men's league sports team to play. But DON'T put your future and family in financial hardship so you can be "blessed to receive" offers that are not really offers of anything.

But lets not allow social media memes and images to try and make it bigger than what it is as you so correctly put it. It is a group of guys playing football after they graduated HS (aka adult travel team). Some of the players apparently are not qualifiers (which with the new COVID rules is a very low threshold). Some are. You said if you’re not a qualifier you should find another path not putting you in debt so my question is if they go to let’s say Blinn in Texas to play football and go to school will that be the same? They’re still attending a community college and playing against JUCOs. If you say it’s not the same please tell me the difference. Also last season when Byron played for them (that’s my nephew since I seen you using quotations a lot for him) they had 5 am workouts and then practiced in the evening from 5 to 7-8 so the coaches were giving them 3-4 hours a day Monday - Friday so they were getting in time to develop these players. Now I’m don’t know about this year but I doubt they’re going to go backwards. But I guess we’re looking at this differently which is not a problem because everyone have different opinions and unlike others we’re discussing them without arguing but the way I look at this is they are giving them a second chance at playing, attending college, and since we don’t have a JUCO in Louisiana, giving the parents a chance at seeing their kids play without spending a whole bunch of money. Instead of going to Kansas or California to play at a JUCO and really going into debt they are trying to give locals a chance to stay home attend school working towards an AA, save money, and have an option of landing a scholarship. Now if you’re a father I’m going to say happy Father’s Day to you and enjoy your kids and family because that’s what im about to go do.

I was making some edits regarding qualifiers while you were replying- I apologize that they were late. Essentially showing how there are no qualifiers for D3, and the NAIA qualifications are not very rigorous- particularly the next two years. Blinn is an ACTUAL JUNIOR COLLEGE. I struggle to find a better or more succinct way to put it, but Blinn is "real" There is an athletic program, with multiple sports, of which all of the coaches have email addresses ending in .edu and who all are under the oversight of an athletic director. They have athletic trainers. The head football coach has an actual resume and is a fulltime employee of the school. All 5 coaches listed on their website have bachelor's degrees. What does LCC have? Some guys who like to coach ball? This post you basically state that it is indeed a JUCO. But in our discussion here, I have come to the conclusion that I don't know if that is the case. It really seems to an adult travel ball team. The affiliation with an online tracs accredited community college from California may only serve a purpose to allow for games. As I asked , could someone go to class at UL, and then go to practice at 5pm with the LCC team?

Thanks for the reply. I was making some edits regarding qualifiers while you were replying- I apologize that they were late. Essentially showing how there are no qualifiers for D3, and the NAIA qualifications are not very rigorous- particularly the next two years. So I just spoke with my nephew and no one was part time students and no one on the team were just players, everyone attended college. So no that’s not the same as an adult travel team. If you were not in school full time then they didn’t allow them on the team, they told them to go tryout for the semi pro team in Lafayette the Hurricanes. So that answer one question. The other question is no, no one attended ULL. He said about 5 attended SLCC full time and the other 48 players attended the community college in California full time. But can you answer the question I asked about people attending a JUCO? I used Blinn for an example, but that goes for any Junior college

So it IS a JUNIOR COLLEGE--from the stand point of the athletes. Regardless of if the founder says "no we are a prep program" (because they are not an official sanctioned activity of any accredited academic institution). So I will slightly amend my statement. It is an adult travel team with the requirement that you are enrolled full time in a school (clock running...). Travel team, club team tomato/tomahto ... it is a group of adults who get together to play football. Which again, I have no problem with. I do have more of a problem with what they seem to portray through social media though. As far as Blinn- I addressed in an edit, but will repost here: Blinn is an ACTUAL JUNIOR COLLEGE. All 5 coaches listed on their website have coaching resume's and bachelor's degrees. What does LCC have? Some guys who like to coach ball and who push the kids to sign up and take online classes with a California Community college?

That they are anything other than just a Club football team located in South Louisiana coached by some men with apparently an interest in coaching and decent hearts.

That they are anything other than just a Club football team located in South Louisiana coached by some men with apparently an interest in coaching and decent hearts. I had to go check their page to see that lol. Nowhere on their page do they say they are a JUCO or that they’re on the same level. Like I told you guys before to go talk to them and you will see. They always give the levels and it’s in this order: D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO, Prep. They always say it in that order and their page says no different. When the kids go on twitter and say they are a JUCO product that’s not the program fault, when the kids and parents put College on their end of their name that’s not their fault, especially when they keep saying they are a prep and when they keep saying they’re not a college. So once again nowhere on their page do they say they’re on that level and they don’t apply that either. Just left off their page after I read your comment. Go by their page not what others are posted about them please

Go by their page not what others are posted about them please I am going by what their actual twitter account looks like and posts. Constantly posting about their players and "offers". Their website is not one that resembles a professional organization in my opinion. I realize they do not claim they are a JUCO and that is accurate. LCC is not a school of any kind. As I pointed out above Juco's have real athletic programs under the guidance of athletic directors who supervise coaches (some of whom are full time employees of the school) all of whom work under the supervision of a President/Chancellor etc. Juco's provide new adults with a college experience, new social experiences, face to face interaction with peers and mentors etc. LCC is young guys who are out of HS and want to play football, coached by guys for which coaching is a hobby. AND as I said if they only take kids who are enrolled full time in school (as you stated), while they are not a JUCO (because they are not an official extra curricular of a school) THE ATHLETES' CLOCK'S are running. So isn't that the worst of worlds? Running clock yet not even JUCO level environment? If the players involved actually want to attend college I really hope they didn't all choose online CCC just to play for LCC. I just don't think football needs to be the driving force for decisions at 17/18/19 year old.

May be another reason people see red flags 🤷♂️ If you are using a mobile device, I am not sure how to post either. If the screen shots are on a PC or Mac, you can reply and insert the screen shot as an image by clicking the picture icon located with the other text options at the top of the message window ("Font Face, Font Size, Bold, Underline etc).

And for about the third time also if you read any posts of mine I said that the founder keep correcting people when they call his program a JUCO. Even when the Head Coach did an interview and the interviewer called them a JUCO he said he had to contact those people to inform them that they are not a JUCO. Retired I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to the other person.

Retired I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to the other person. I understand, and you (and apparently LCC ) have been clear. It is not a JUCO. And I think if they claimed they were, then people saying "scam" would be correct. A JUCO football team is an interscholastic sport offered by and organized by a Junior College. It is part of a multiple sport athletic program that provides other benefits to student athletes (such as medical care, academic support and guidance etc) whose coaches are employees (often full time ) of the school, most likely with college degrees (probably a requirement) and an actual coaching resume and who are supervised by an athletic director who answers to the College President who is appointed by a board. LCC is a collection of recent (and maybe not so recent) HS graduates brought together by some guys who like to coach football. Apparently one of the conditions to being on the team is that they have to be taking classes full time (according to what you have said here lance) But during this discussion here, I think it is becoming more obvious that the key point is it doesn't matter WHAT LCC "is" What matters is that from the player's perspective, if they have to be full time students (like you said) and their eligibility clock is running, then for the players it is effectively very similar as being a part of a JUCO football program. Just not one with all of the benefits I described above. And a further detriment in my opinion is that they are situated fully in the environment glorifying "offers" that are not offers of anything-most of which would be detrimental for the student and his family. At some point, it is time to hang up the pads and move on, and although that sounds crass and cold hearted, almost every single person involved would probably have a better outcome in life by NOT being a part of chasing that ghost of being able to post "blessed to receive" worthless offers of paying $$$ of dollars to play football. From what I have read here, I think LCC would be more beneficial if it just acted and cultivated a culture of as an adult travel football team to let 18-20 somethings play football a bit longer (at a much lower level than their HS days though) rather than as an opportunity to further a career. The problem is, that doesn't seem very popular. What is popular is posting on twitter that you are "blessed to receive"... something that isn't really a gift. To be clear, I don't think LCC is doing anything "wrong", in the same way that Rolex is doing anything wrong selling $15,000 wrist watches, or Armani selling $5,000 suits. I just don't believe it is in the best interest of most to buy those things.

All those things lead people to believe they are, or claim to be, a JUCO.

Once again and hopefully for the last time my nephew played for the team last season and never have I heard or seen them call themselves a JUCO. You made my point when you said people call them a JUCO and you said they repost it, they only repost when someone comments about going to their program. Now if the kid put JUCO product on their own personal page how is the program calling themselves that. Also I said earlier they had an interview where they were called the first JUCO in Louisiana and the founder said he contacted them and told them they were a prep and that coach is no longer with the program. Now I’m not saying that’s the reason he’s no longer with them so please don’t think that’s what I’m saying. As for the first 2 year college in Louisiana, that’s incorrect. Go on the page and scroll down, it says the first 2 year program. When I inquired about the program for my nephew last year I asked the founder about that and he said the other 2 prep programs at the time only had kids coming to their programs for 6 months and not working towards a degree whereas they will have kids working towards their AA degree which is 2 years. So that’s why they said first 2 year PROGRAM not COLLEGE!

From what you have said, the kids clocks are running like a JUCO so they are using up their eligibility like a JUCO but rather than getting any of the benefits of playing for an actual college, they are simply playing for an adult travel team. I would say that playing for a JUCO would be much better for the men involved.

The only “benefits” I would agree that they are missing is taking a course in the classroom and that’s only the online students. They have a contract with a workout facility and use it everyday, actually have their own key to the place, they practice 2-3 hours a day which is the same as a JUCO, one of the major parts to me is that THEY ARE RECEIVING AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE!! So wow LCC is helping kids get a degree which will better their future but you guys see a problem with the program, that’s crazy. Any “benefits” I’m missing? Oh and once again the other prep programs don’t offer this that’s why we chose LCC over the others so you would think y’all would be focusing on the other ones. But like they said when you doing great things people will have a problem with it somehow.

But like they said when you doing great things people will have a problem with it somehow. Serious question… Is this associates degree online schooling being provided to them free of charge because they are playing football? Or are these kids paying the same fees that regular students are paying? Like retired said, their college athletic eligibility clock has started if they are taking college courses. And if they are paying full cost, like any other student…and the payoff is MAYBE an “offer” to play football at a school that will cost an arm and a leg to attend…then this probably isn’t the best route for any kid to take that doesn’t either come from a wealthy family or just wants to play another year or two of organized football. If either of those scenarios are the case, then good for them for taking the opportunity to keep playing the game they love, but if these guys are selling that playing at LCC is a path to playing college football on scholarship, I think they are selling a a pipe dream. All of that said, if they are providing tuition toward the associates degree for playing ball, then its a great thing they are doing for some of these kids that wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise
